Part of her job as a good professor and lawyer is to evaluate her subject, jury, or opposition...figure out how they accept and process information. Good teachers know how to do this, and the great ones can do it intuitively, in the same way it is said that a combat hardened soldier with experience can size up another soldier in a tight spot and figure out if they can trust them or not.
She has probably had to walk many students and people down that logical path, that this dimwit Leftist Senator was an easy mark for someone a lot sharper the herself.
