The number of coronavirus cases in the United States surpassed 8 million on Friday as health officials from coast to coast scramble to contain the rising rate of infections.
The case numbers are steadily increasing daily, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. The country has averaged more than 53,000 new daily cases for the past week -- an increase of more than 55% in just over a month -- and Friday's caseload was not the exception, according to Johns Hopkins data. Unlike previous rises, this time it appears that no region is safe. The Northeast, which has remained relatively stable since the spring, is seeing a rise in cases as is the Pacific Northwest. The increases come as the numbers of new cases in the Midwest hasn't slowed.
At least four states -- Idaho, Illinois, North Carolina and Wyoming -- reported their highest daily Covid-19 case count to date on Friday, state health officials said.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, warned that infection rates are far too high heading into the end of the year. Other experts say is setting the country up for a very difficult winter.

The pandemic would had been costly but short lived. Probably would had ended by June or July.
It is really plain as day to those who can see it. The recent rise is the taking hold of the virus in the midwest. The costal regions of the United States have no change. Each region has had its outbreak and it has followed the exact same curve:
1. New York / New Jersey / Mid Atlantic
2. Sunbelt
3. Southwestern United States (California / Arizona)
4. Now the midwest
Once it goes through the midwest, it should be over in America. This plus the fact that late November will have the Pfizer EUA for vaccine, I think it truly will be over by 1 January, as I have thought all along.....
Its coming to an end. We cannot look at the United States as an entire homogenous place in terms of epidemiology, there are several discrete regions.
Dr Quack is such a compromised pathetic life-long government worker loser. This pathetic bum should be exiled for the good of society.
And yet, Fauci, as late as February 29th was saying....just keep on doing what you're doing...we'll watch it.
Let's face it...we're Fauci's lab rats.
Dr. Topquack can’t go one day without getting himself in the news. What a fraud!
We do have therapeutics and the survival rate goes unchanged.
Fauci the Fraud with his daily publicity stunt
Will no one rid us of this meddlesome garden gnome?
This dipshit should be brought up on charges against humanity.
Nicely done! Thanks for putting in the effort to compile and post all of that.
Bookmarked.
Seems right. I noticed that each region takes about 3 months or so to get through their outbreak.
1. New York / New Jersey / Mid Atlantic (March - June)
2. Sunbelt (June - September)
3. Southwestern United States (California / Arizona) - July - October
4. Now the midwest (Late September/Early October - present)
It doesnt matter. Back to work.
Scientists can be bought, just like politicians.
He may be a quack, but you can’t duck his bills.
CASE COUNTS! NOT people dropping dead! Aarrgghhhh!
And don't forget multiple tests being counted as multiple "cases". And people who left the line due to long wait times being advised by letter 3 days later that they "tested positive". And just flat-out inflating of numbers because people are stupid enough or weak enough to believe anything they're told by the Tee-Vee.
People are done, come hell or high water they are going to have Thanksgiving and Christmas .... the Canadian border will be open even though they deny it.
How many of those are currently active and requiring hospitalization? We've probably had a lot more than just 8 million cases...those are just the ones that were tested.
Does this guy ever STFU?
