Osita Nwanevu — well gosh yes; I need someone by that name to tell me the whys and what-fors of our sacred Constitution!

And I especially need some pretzelized academic to write 5000 words to say what could be said in 50. I especially also needed someone to churlishly assert that “a right-wing presidency has brought in the worst right-wing violence seen in many decades”. Good grief! He, she, it (choose one) sees right wing violence? Oh, please forgive me for hitting you in the fist with my face.

Drivel is too good a word for this piece.

Do they not realize that a “democratic order without a written constitution” means that slavery is A-OK as long as 51% votes for it?

The leadership clearly does.

They intend to be the slave masters, and to control the counting of the votes.

Who cares what his name is? An anti-Constitutionalist is an anti-Constitutionalist. I can tell you that we have plenty of lily-white native-born leftists here in the People's Republic of California.

After the purge, the red countities can petition for readmission.

They can be readmitted on a case by case basis

Does anyone know where the author was born? All I find is crickets, and one or two sources that say United States, but parents unknown.

I understand that we do have home grown Treasonous individuals, but I find it odd that here is so little personal information on this one.

Who cares what his name is?

I do. That name suggests to me that someone of Nigerian extraction, who, though born in VA, nevertheless has an anti-colonial cow-chip on his shoulder and a cancel-culture university-incubated America-hatred on his brain.

So, yeah, I'd expect this kind of bovine scatology from a bill ayers. But I'd expect someone from a sh--thole country to enjoy the blessings of liberty for a generation or two before advocating for the abolition of the greatest system of governance ever conceived.

Federalist/Anti-Federalist ping.

I was astonished that this article from The New Republic received so few responses. It proposes not just packing the courts and packing the Union, but it proposes to replace the Constitution entirely. This magazine was once the flagship publication of the neoliberal movement, but it has gone off the cliff.

Article V ping.

I was astonished that this article from The New Republic received so few responses. It proposes not merely packing the courts and packing the Union, but it proposes a Constitutional Convention to replace our "badly flawed" Founding Document.

The Left would want a Constitution like the European one, thousands of pages delineating minutely what can and cannot be done.

For 60 years they have been working towards this moment. They were hidden and quietly went about the business of destroying the foundations of our country. Our government has worked with them with the goal of destroying our nation and raising a world government. When we warned people they would laugh at us for falling for conspiracy theories. Told us we were crazy. The party we trusted betrayed us. And here we are. The marxists are ready to rise up and take over the nation. And the government will help them do so. I wonder if the American people are afraid enough to listen. To do what is necessary. I doubt it.

Sorry friend, splitting up won’t work. The moment the marxists get “their” piece of America. They will begin the conquest of our piece of America. They will not leave you alone ever.

Progressives have always hated the Constitution. Now they’re open about it.

Of course, the author repeats the distorted notion of how our Constitutional Convention was a convention originally intended to propose Amendments to the Articles of Confederation. While the delegations of the 12 states could do that, 10 of those delegations were also empowered to propose and construct a new Constitution. So basically, you could say that this was a Constitutional Convention from the get, if they wanted to do that.

Then, the author claims, seemingly in league with the Birchers, that elements of the right are proposing and funding efforts for a Constitutional Convention of their own, when in reality, those elements simply want a straight Article V Convention to propose and submit for ratification Amendments to the current Constitution.

So what else has this article gotten wrong?

Do they not realize that a “democratic order without a written constitution” means that slavery is A-OK as long as 51% votes for it?

They do. And they plan on voting for it.

You are projecting a Christian view point on them which is "Slavery is wrong".

They have a pagan view point which is "It is wrong for ME to be a slave. Enslaving you is just peachy."
