It is easier to fight with someone you can present as your adversary. That is what a senior member of Israels right-wing camp told me on Sunday following the announcement that then-Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden had won the presidential election.
Biden, he explained, might be a veteran friend of Israel. But, he added, the former vice president would be easier to portray as the opposite if needed. Trump gave Israel so much that it was harder to battle him on something like the establishment of a Palestinian state, he said. With Biden, that will be easier.
The conversation was telling. First, it showed what direction the post-election narrative is taking in some right-wing circles. Tzachi Hanegbi, a veteran Likud minister, made his own contribution Sunday night when he expressed grave concern over the impact Bidens election would have on Iran, warning that it could lead to an Israeli-Iranian conflict.

Mossad?

Israel should look out for their own interests, which are largely consistent with American values, though not progressive Democrat values. I think reaching out to American Hispanics and other minority communities is silly, other than Jews, who are a bigger minority than most US minorities. No more so than conservatives, Israel doesn't have to cave to Democrat ideals, should Biden assume office. And to anticipate a problem which I know will upset many here, should Biden prevail, yes, Israel should talk to the incoming administration. Iran and the palestinians will be, palestinians already are.
With oil independence, we dont need Isreal any more.
Israel sold us oil?
We have little further economic need for the Middle East staying peaceful.
Sorry. We’re not moving. We didn’t for Barry, we won’t for Joe.

If portraying Democrats as an adversary is politically beneficial then why try to reach out to Biden?
Trouble is an understatement. If Israel knows what is good for it, they should preposition a nuclear weapon in Tehran, and if the SHTF then pop it. Zero follow up.
The assumption should be not that the US will be unhelpful, but that it will be downright hostile in the near term. For this reason Israel will have to be in full denial mode, and bottled up with defense.
I like Israel but they can grnf for themselves.
*fend
No, but I understand supposedly they are strategically important to us because of our oil imports from the ME.
Either that or it’s because dozens of Democrats have dual citizenship with Israel.
What do they know about the Rats and Epstein / Maxwell?!
Did anyone see the report that Israel Americans voted overwhelming for Biden. Is that true?
What’s this pompous fool doing contacting foreign govs? Is this not a violation of the Logan Act?
Energy independence is out the window with a Harris administration...they already said they would shut down the oil and coal industries.
There will be no Biden/Harris administration. Count on it.
I hope there won’t be, but with all the sheeple out there, it’s a scary thought...
