The Burbank Unified School District in California has banned several classic literary works that contain racial slurs. To Kill A Mockingbird and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn are two of the classics on the district’s new list of banned books.
According to a report by Newsweek, a school district in Burbank, California, has banned several classic books that contain racial slurs. The list includes: To Kill a Mockingbird, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Of Mice and Men, The Cay and Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.
The decision was motivated, in part, by an alleged incident in which a student used a racial slur he learned in the book Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry. “My family used to own your family and now I want a dollar from each of you for the week,” one student reportedly said to a black classmate.

Mark Twain wrote probably the best and most human portrayal of a Black man in Jim. I read it as a kid, but it again as an adult and I was moved to tears due to Jim’s conversation with Finn that he was a man with feelings.
I spent K through 5 in that district. 2 thru 5 at the soon to be banned Thomas Jefferson Elementary. I actually read “huckleberry Finn” there. So I better not say anything because they will find me and send me to a re-education camp
I read Huckleberry Finn to my young son before he could read. I explained the term “nigger” to him. It used to be common, and not even a “bad” term for many folks - although perhaps out of ignorance??? (I told him how I was taken aback as a child when my grandma said “Oh, and that nice nigger girl across the street brought me over some fresh rolls and I made coffee and we had such a nice time!” And the “girl” was in her 50’s!) Of course I didn’t say anything - and now see that it was their friendship that mattered, and not my old grandma being politically correct.
So I asked him if we should use nigger, “slave” or “black”. I think he said “slave”.
So odd. While the book uses the work nigger, it was common at the time. And the book as a whole shows this great relationship between a white boy and a black man.
I got done reading it, and my son said “Read it again!!” (Of course I did.)

Huckleberry Finn, an anti-slavery novel, banned by a school district. Makes perfect sense. The school’s motto must be “ignorance is strength”.
White people are going to have to wake up soon. Your vote has been taken away. Your citizenship is being watered down and will soon disappear.
You have 3 choices now:
1. Accept the inevitable, whatever that may be.
2. Stand and fight which will result in either death or incarceration.
3. Vote with your feet and move to a place where your skin color is not disadvantageous.
That is all.
So a story about a white man defending a wrongly accused black man is bad?
