Studies using antibody tests were done last Spring in the area where we live in East King County Washington, the first “hot spot” in the country. They showed that the actual number of people in our area who had been infected was at least time times the number of recorded “cases”. The studies were derided largely for political reasons because they demonstrated that the actual deadliness of Covid was ten times lower than what was being reported at that time.

But the authorities also realized that when Covid tests became widely available that the numbers could be easily manipulated to show a “second wave”. I have never before seen or even imagined the manipulation of statistical data about any contagion for political purposes. The real relevance of these numbers is that Covid really is just a run of the mill contagious respiratory ailment.

I have known two people who got very sick with pneumonia in these last few months. One of them died. Before tests were widely available both of them would have been counted as presumptive Covid as my brother-in-law was counted when he died from a cancerous brain tumor last Spring. But neither of the two people who I know who had serious pneumonia tested positive for Covid. Both of them were fanatical mask wearers. They wore them all the time, outdoors, indoors, near others, away from others, exercising or sitting around, even sleeping in some cases. The doctors told the one who is still alive to ditch the mask which she strenuously objected to because it had become some type of psychological crutch. But he said the obsessive mask use had contributed to if not directly caused her to come down with pneumonia and that it was lowering her O2 stats.

Excessive mask use has long been known to put people at increased risk for a number of serious conditions.
