Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said Wednesday on CNN’s “New Day” that President Donald Trump’s base was starting to turn on him.
Kinzinger said, “I think we have to step back and understand, you know, people that feel very disaffected, Donald Trump spoke to them, but here is the problem is up until the election, you know, it’s an election, it’s just a competition of ideas, but after an election, it has turned into an undermining of the democracy. That’s the differentiation between, you know, people that say, ‘Well, Adam, you know, was supportive of the president in the past.’ The difference here is what it’s doing to undermine our democracy and the fact, then, that people that work hard for their money, hard-working taxpayers are giving their money to this, because they are convinced because the president is telling them this that they can win, and they can’t. I mean, the scam in Congress with January 6th all these members of Congress that are, you know, posting crazy things so they can get a ton of followers and retweets and raise money, I think we have to calling it out finally because if we don’t people are just going to believe it.”
Anchor Alisyn Camerota said, “From where you sit are you seeing Republicans distance themselves now from President Trump? I mean, for instance, voting to override the veto, or are you seeing them still cater to his demands, such as Mitch McConnell larding up this bill with President Trump’s demands? Which is it?”
Kinzinger said, “I think they’re privately distancing more. We’ve talked about this a lot, I wish more would speak out, but I think they’re starting to. I tell you, the base is starting to turn.”

But I really think they are clueless about the backlash that is going to happen to the Republican Party for going down this path...

I have seen absolutely ZERO evidence of TRUMP’s base turning on him. The Republican politicians and RINOs aren’t turning, their masks are just getting ripped off to show who they’ve really been all along. Trump stopped the gravy train and they aren’t happy about it, so if they can get rid of Trump, they’ll join whatever current coup is running & right now, it’s the fraudulent election.
As for Trump’s base of Americans, every day the anger grows about what is the equivalent of a totally corrupt, 3rd world election and the way Republican politicians are stabbing Trump in the back and allowing OUR votes to be stolen. There will be retribution, especially if Trump is prevented from prevailing, which he should, in a just, non-corrupt environment (which ovbiously no longer exists in our country).
I just listened to a podcast on the 10 most significant battles in the Revolutionary War. The Patriots FOUGHT, not only the British army, but the “loyalists” as well. It was UGLY, really really ugly. No holds were barred as they did what they had to do to win. Most folks don’t know the extent of what happened, essentially a ‘civil war’ among the populace within the Revolution (the army vs army part). The DemonRats have ‘been there’ for years. doing what they can (and ramping up big time now with riots, killings, putting innocent political opponents in jail, or trying to, running coups against a legal sitting president, in-your-face fraud, etc.) to DESTROY any opposition and the Patriots, if they want to win, are going to have to up their game, BIG time. Anyone not down with the cause needs to be kicked out of Congress ... the namby pamby RINOs are the obvious, but those who will not stand up for Americans and the Constitution need to be gone. Right now, we could probably count those who are worthy of staying on two hands, maybe 3.
Right-the idea of a ‘Republican base’ is moot. Has been for a long time. Now, they are just a bunch of old geezers and corporate types with so much moribund wealth that politics is just a hobby for them.
It’s been displaced by the Trump ‘base’ ... which is energetic, committed and positively hooked on HONESTY! After all-what the he*& is a politician worth, if he/she came out of the DC petri dish and has the moral compass like a ‘jack-in-the-box’ on pharmaceuticals.
Biden is the worst possible idea of a ‘politician’ no matter what your politics are. He talks like he drank a case of vodka, then tied a brick to his tongue. It wouldn’t matter how he sounded anyway, because his brain is atrophied
Is that why President Trump got a massive 75 million votes and had so much coattails that Republicans won at every single level (county, state and the congress) save the US Senate where the Dems made only a measely one seat gain so far, despite all the fake news media polls predicting a massive sweep by the Dems in the House, Senate, and state legislatures?
That’s gotten us what exactly?
The GOP is institutionally corrupt and spent the last 4 years colluding with Democrats to disenfranchise us. They are not interested in reforming and outflank us when they team up with Dems. President Trump is teaching us an important lesson here. We must be good students and learn from them.
