Just because 45 voted that the trial is unconstitutional is no guarantee some won't vote against Trump. I doubt they get 17 but they could get more than 5. Let's hope not but I would not rule it out.

It could turn into a "well since we're here ..." kind of thing. If they made the vote secret it would remind me of a scene from a movie long ago.

"Just push the button and he can never run for President again. You will never have to mess with Trump again. "

Exactly. Why would anyone trust anything any republican senator says or promises? McCarthy is probably telling Trump that the Senate wants to censure him. Or the secret vote is a real possibility, dems and repubs colluding. If Trump hasn't learned that he can't trust anyone in the GOP then I'm not sure what the solution is ..
