WASHINGTON—Investigators have made a preliminary determination that the police officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt during the U.S. Capitol riot shouldn’t be charged with any crimes in connection with her death, according to people familiar with the review.
Ms. Babbitt, who served for more than a dozen years in the Air Force and Air National Guard and became a passionate supporter of former President Donald Trump, died from being shot by a Capitol Police officer after rioters smashed through a door to the Speaker’s Lobby on Jan. 6. She had entered the building as part of a crowd aiming to disrupt the certification of President Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election.
The officer who shot her had been placed on leave soon after the riot while Ms. Babbitt’s death was being investigated, including on the question of whether it was a violation of her civil rights.
The Justice Department said in announcing the investigation that it was following routine procedure for whenever a police officer uses deadly force by having the Washington Metropolitan Police Department examine the shooting. The police investigators have made an initial determination that charges against the officer aren’t warranted, the people said, adding that Justice Department officials haven’t yet made a final determination on the matter. The U.S. attorney’s office in Washington is leading the broader investigation into the riot and prosecuting the more than 150 cases that have resulted to date.

Calm down. No one here is spreading false information. This could all be easily set to rights IF authorities would release the name and identity of the shooter.
They won't. So any and all "information" is valid until proven otherwise.
Looked like murder of an unarmed civilian to me
Ha ha ha ha “law”, good one.
Right? But the suicide count for Capitol Police officers is now at three. 3 cops there that day have since snuffed themselves.
Why?
You’re 100% correct. He assassinated her from the side. She probably never saw him. For that situation, with her being delayed trying to get through the side panel, why would not have pointed the gun at her and command her to stop?
‘
That’s why they won’t let you or anyone open-minded near it.
They started protecting him immediately.
‘
This shooter should NOT be arrested or charged...
...they should be doxxed.
...that way, some loving person can find this poor soul... and pray for them.
Just my $0.02
‘
No warning.
He wanted to shoot somebody.
‘
He was two feet from her, she was in a vestibule with a crowd of people who were busy pushing in a wired security window like the kind you see at a ticket counter, say, or a pro sports ticket venue.
She had leaned or fallen back a step or two, then the crowd behind her pushed again and before she TOUCHED that window, the panicking cop came up with a large handgun, looked like a Ruger SBH, or a .357, and shot her in the chest, twice to my eye, though everyone else has said ONE shot.
She didn't know what hit her, she went down backwards, still smiling, still talking to the people at her side, and that was it.
The gunner cop, not much more than a rent-a-cop, I would say, looked on for a terrified moment or two, then disappeared from all detectable earth, so it would seem. I don't envy him that job. But you don't take a job involving firearms unless you have a pretty damned good idea of what such a job might demand.
Wrong color.
Yes, not a good combination. The other police (uniformed) standing around didn’t seem particularly worried about Ashli, and I thought they were probably aware of the cops on the other side of the window.
When she was shot out of the window, the uniformed police (wearing SWAT uniforms and heavily armed) went to help her, and I noticed that one of them stepped towards the window and was communicating with hand gestures with somebody on the other side. He looked very questioning, almost puzzled, so I don’t think the shooting was coordinated or even typical for their officers.
Just saying.
I remember an early copy of the clip, it looked like the same guy.
Don’t know, just saying...
Note that the first few paragraphs do not mention that Ashley Babbit was unarmed and was not given a verbal warning. Are these facts anywhere in this article ?
Corollary to “Black live matter” is “white lives....”
Dead men tell no tales.
Officers name was.....Officer?
The executioner was nervous, so it’s okay he killed her.
Officers name was:.......Officer!
Imagine if she was black (and perceived liberal)... there would be non stop media coverage 24 hours a day and riots throughout the land. We would all know the shooter’s name and everything about him. His life would be in ruins. He would have been tried and convicted in the media the day after the shooting...
Nothing to see here. Keep it moving.
