WASHINGTON—Investigators have made a preliminary determination that the police officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt during the U.S. Capitol riot shouldn’t be charged with any crimes in connection with her death, according to people familiar with the review.
Ms. Babbitt, who served for more than a dozen years in the Air Force and Air National Guard and became a passionate supporter of former President Donald Trump, died from being shot by a Capitol Police officer after rioters smashed through a door to the Speaker’s Lobby on Jan. 6. She had entered the building as part of a crowd aiming to disrupt the certification of President Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election.
The officer who shot her had been placed on leave soon after the riot while Ms. Babbitt’s death was being investigated, including on the question of whether it was a violation of her civil rights.
The Justice Department said in announcing the investigation that it was following routine procedure for whenever a police officer uses deadly force by having the Washington Metropolitan Police Department examine the shooting. The police investigators have made an initial determination that charges against the officer aren’t warranted, the people said, adding that Justice Department officials haven’t yet made a final determination on the matter. The U.S. attorney’s office in Washington is leading the broader investigation into the riot and prosecuting the more than 150 cases that have resulted to date.

Here we go.Living proof that there is a dual justice system.One for the Criminal Elites and one for the Little People. That Police Office should be arrested and tried for MURDER if Law Enforcement meant anything in this country today.
It should be up to the jury to determine if he’s innocent or not. From what I saw of the shooting that Cop is guilty as sin and he should rot in jail.

Just wow. I never expected to see Freepers supporting the cold blooded killing of an unarmed woman by the police.
It’s not my theory, just passing on what others have speculated, including our own Travis McGee/Matt Bracken. There was that BLM guy dressed up in MAGA gear right next to her, taking video. He was arrested and released.

Didn’t these people support Police being ordered to stand down when Federal Buildings were attacked in many Cities?
Didn’t Nancy Pelosi say she didn’t know why more people weren’t in the streets - during the BLM and Antifa Riots?
They loved the Riots. They helped raise money to get violent soldiers back on the streets to attack.
Some of the Senate leaders urged the Mob to stay in the streets - and not go home.
And the Republicans did not support Trump when he had to be moved from the WH to a Bunker.

There were some Antifa supporters in the crowd, but most of those who went in weren't. Violent or not, there were plenty of self-proclaimed Trump supporters inside the Capitol that day.
And I would turn that around: there were people there who supported Trump but dressed like Black Bloc Antifa, that is, in fighting gear. Some may have been anarchists, but we know that many were on the right.
The media needed a DEAD TRUMP SUPPORTER to bolster the OPTIC of Trump supporters being INSIDE the Capitol and they got what they needed with Ashli.
They know who was inside the Capitol because the intruders posted it on their social media account. There was no reason for making a martyr to somehow "prove" that Trump supporters were there, when so much of what happened was on film and those there could be identified.

Nope-would definitely have to get a change of venue...
Except, if I’m reading the story right, Liebengood committed suicide, in which case they couldn’t be charging him. So it must be somebody else.
When I saw the whole video, I wasn’t even sure the shooter looked like a cop. Of course, in that case, we’ll probably never know. Or maybe in any case we’ll never know. They sure are shrouding it in secrecy.
