Christopher Miller, who served as acting secretary of defense under former President Donald Trump, blamed him for the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol in a new interview.
“Would anybody have marched on the Capitol, and tried to overrun the Capitol, without the president’s speech?” Miller said during an interview with Vice on Showtime, which will air in full on March 14. “I think it’s pretty much definitive that wouldn’t have happened.”
Shortly before Trump supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, the president told the crowd of his “Save America Rally” that the 2020 election was “a criminal enterprise,” and encouraged them to “fight like hell.”
“If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore,” he said hours before members of that same crowd burst through the doors of Congress in an attempt to stop lawmakers from certifying the results.
Miller noted that although he does not know if Trump knew his speech would invoke such a drastic response, there would not have been an attack without him.
“It seems cause-and-effect,” Miller said of Trump’s speech, later adding, “The question is, did he know he was enraging people to do that? I don’t know.”
Miller was named acting secretary of defense in November 2020, after Trump fired Mark Esper. Miller received backlash on Jan. 6 for his response to the Capitol attack, as many faulted his department for taking too long to deploy the National Guard.
“It comes back to understanding how the military works — this isn’t a video game, it’s not Black Ops Call of Duty,” Miller said, defending his part in the response, before revealing that he never spoke to Trump on Jan. 6.

Didn’t he purposely hold up sending the names of those two women who Biden just promoted to four star general because he thought Trump would turn them down for promotion since they were women?
What was the point?? There were MILLIONS of Americans who viewed participating that day as the one chance that most of us would get to use our voice against the election cheating. Nobody else was listening. The USSC would not even listen. And yes, there was precedent set that Pence could have recognized the blantant cheating and the desire for the state legislatures to have the 10 days being asked by Cruz.
ANTIFA was there on orders of Pelosi and Schumer to enter the Capitol and stop debate. Look at the timing! The breach occurred right as debate was beginning. And the side benefit was being able to bash conservatives with the “insurrection” label.

I know two people who attended the rally and didn’t storm the Capital. They both said as they started walking in that direction they saw trouble brewing way ahead and returned to their hotel.
This must be another step in the misinformation campaign. Miller is still very much in charge of the military, isn’t he? We’ve been told that repeatedly by someone...

Someone has a serious problem with causality.
Ultimate Cause:
- Without the cheat, there’d never have been a rally or Trump supporters’ anger at that outcome, thus without it the events on Jan 6 would not have happened
Direct cause:
- Capitol security allowed the breach.
Everything else that happened is either an indirect, proximate, or unrelated cause.
Worst of all, without the cheat, Jan 6 would have been marked by a leftist attack on the Capitol that would have been repelled by an effective defense, as was the White House in late May 2020.
YEAH. AND A LOT OF OTHER BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS, MUNDANE, AND TRITE THINGS. MY FAVORITE IS, “NEVER DRAW THREE CARDS TO AN INSIDE STRAIGHT!”
Trump supporters didn’t try to overrun the Capitol. If they had wanted to, they would have. Anyone with any sense at all knows that.
