Derek Chauvin trial: Expert says cop was justified in pinning down George Floyd

MINNEAPOLIS — Former Officer Derek Chauvin was justified in pinning George Floyd to the ground because of his frantic resistance, a use-of-force expert testified for the defense Tuesday, contradicting a parade of authorities from both inside and outside the Minneapolis Police Department.

Taking the stand at Chauvin's murder trial, Barry Brodd, a former Santa Rosa, California, officer, said police don’t have to wait for something bad to happen; they need only have a reasonable fear that there's a threat and act accordingly.

"It’s easy to sit and judge ... an officer’s conduct. It’s more of a challenge to, again, put yourself in the officer’s shoes to try to make an evaluation through what they’re feeling, what they’re sensing, the fear they have, and then make a determination," Brodd said.

Defense starts calling witnesses. Is that why riots broke out?

The current riots are because of the recent cop shooting, wherein she mistook her Glock for a Taser.

As for the testimony:

Cop is 140 lbs.

Floyd 230 lbs.

No kidding, especially when the guy he has pinned down is a dangerous criminal thug that is nearly twice his size!

and then on top of all that, he has the screaming of a viscous mob behind him.

Foot Locker donated 200M to BLM, and then they got looted. Rioters don’t need much of an excuse.

I’ll bet when those three words were uttered by the defense
“Chauvin WAS justified” you could have heard a pin drop in that big courtroom. The quiet before the storm!

Unless there are one or two sympathetic jurors, Chauvin is going to be found guilty of at least one of the three murder/manslaughter charges. If somehow he is a acquitted, like the cops in the Rodney King incident, the Feds will move in with civil rights violation charges.

It’s been the same pattern for decades: violent ferals who burn, loot, and murder apply pressure for a conviction.

The trial of double murderer O.J. Simpson was the reverse. The DA moved the proceedings from Brentwood to downtown LA in order to get more ferals on the jury to commit nullification, which they did in under two hours.

***********

Lots of looting, protesting, street blockages, etc. etc. are possible
depending upon the verdicts. Not going to be a good time to be out
in the public arena, imo.

Today's testimony reviewed Floyd's 2019 arrest in which he exhibited extremely high blood pressure and confessed to heavy use of opioids, suggesting he may have entered a state of "excited delirium" , vesting him with superhuman strength triggered by drugs, heart disease or mental disorder.

Officer Chauvin never drew his revolver or taser, just tried quite reasonably to effect a reasonable, justifiable arrest...imho.

he doesn’t need sympathetic jurors- he needs objective jurors who will listen to the facts- the facts are what exonerate Chauvin

...the facts are what exonerate Chauvin

Agree they should, but I doubt there are 12 objective individuals on the jury. Too many fame seekers manage to get on these sensational trials. Most normal individuals try their best to avoid lengthy trials when called for jury duty.
