Gov. Ron DeSantis signed Florida’s controversial “anti-riot” bill into law on Monday, a measure that vastly increases law enforcement’s powers to crack down on civil unrest.
The bill, which passed mostly along partisan lines, has been criticized by Democrats and civil rights groups as unconstitutional for infringing on the First Amendment’s right to protest.
“If you look at the breadth of this particular piece of legislation, it is the strongest anti-rioting, pro-law enforcement piece of legislation in the country,” DeSantis said at a press conference in Winter Haven surrounded by Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, uniformed deputies and other law enforcement. “There’s just nothing even close.”

“The problem with this bill is that the language is so overbroad and vague ... that it captures anybody who is peacefully protesting at a protest that turns violent through no fault of their own,” said Kara Gross, the legislative director at ACLU Florida. “Those individuals who do not engage in any violent conduct under this bill can be arrested and charged with a third-degree felony and face up to five years in prison and loss of voting rights. The whole point of this is to instill fear in Floridians.”

The beauty of Florida law is that the governor can remove a sheriff from office.
If DeSantis were to declare a statewide emergency and issue orders to LE in the state, any sheriff, chief or other LEO who fails to follow those orders can be removed from office.
DeSantis could appoint a local replacement (as he did with Broward county) or dispatch a State Marshal to take control.
With the large number of militia volunteers available in Florida, even large scale insurrection in the big cities can be quickly subdued by a sheriff using militia volunteers from other counties.
Crap like the savagery of the Liberty City riots would be shut down over night.
However if people sit on their cans like goppers and don’t display solid active support for such a policy forget it - we might as well have another Bush flunky in charge.
That is what the rino swine have in mind for the next election.
