JERUSALEM (AP) — Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip fired rockets toward Jerusalem on Monday, setting off air raid sirens throughout the city, after hundreds of Palestinians were hurt in clashes with Israeli police at a flashpoint religious site in the contested holy city.
The early-evening attack drastically escalated what already are heightened tensions throughout the region following weeks of clashes between Israeli police and Palestinian protesters in Jerusalem.
Shortly after the sirens sounded, explosions could be heard in Jerusalem. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. The Israeli Army said there was an initial burst of seven rockets, one was intercepted, and rocket fire was continuing.
Abu Obeida, spokesman for Hamas’ military wing, said the rocket attack was a response to what he called Israeli “crimes and aggression” in Jerusalem. “This is a message the enemy has to understand well,” he said.
He threatened more attacks if Israel again invades the sacred Al-Aqsa compound or carries out evictions of Palestinian families in a neighborhood of east Jerusalem.

As long as Jerusalem permits the continued enemy Occupation of her lands, the Muslim terrorists and murder gangsters will keep attacking innocent Christians and Jews from those areas.
the government in Jerusalem never learns to defeat (shoot on sight would be best by far, or at least repatriate to Arabia) the enemies occupying her territory. Jews are well known for being smart about so many things, science, technology, medicine, arts, music, literature, charitable operations, you name it. But when it comes to self-governance and defending themselves — they’re abysmally inept.
Israel has already made military adjustments in anticipation of such. Hamas better be ready to have the snot bombed out of them as well as a potential limited ground operation. Attacking Jerusalem is one of the red lines Hamas shouldn’t have crossed.
Iron dome struck down 3. One hit a moshav near Jerusalem. This is rare for Hamas to have the balls this close to Jerusalem, so they have been emboldened by the new regime in Washington. Expect a major retaliation against Hamas in Gaza, and possibly in Iran and/or its surrogate Iraq within hours. Almost automatic at this point.
