I will say this. Decisions made in NYC on the East Coast early on made this pandemic sweep into the nation and NY was ground zero for the pandemic for the first 6 months. If, and it’s a big word, Deblasio and Cuomo had made far better decisions in the the beginning the pandemic would have been contained. But because they wanted to show the world that Trump was wrong, we lost control of it and it spread through the rest of the USA. Telling people “it’s ok, come to the city, party, embrace your Chinese friends, and go to concerts, plays, ride the subways” was the absolute worst advice ever given. If they had followed the WH advice of locking down travelers from China and Europe, we could have contained it. Sometimes I wish Trump should have said there is no pandemic, then those guys would have done the opposite (AS THEY ALWAYS DO) And locked everything down.

lockdowns will be looked back upon as the most catastrophically harmful policy in “all of history”.

Yeah, well. OrangeManBad, and that’s pretty much the size of it and accruing a little more power to the state for good nwasure.

To be honest, I think that over-states it.

But, looked at more broadly, I think we are in the midst of a Globalist conspiracy and the pandemic (or, at the very least, the pandemic reaction) is a part of that Globalist effort. They are trying to end the concept of Nationalism as it was set up after the Thirty Years War. I think they are trying to create a global gulag that uses a form of slavery (social credit) to create a perpetual New Class of privileged rulers.

Within that broader context, then yes, I think we are in the midst of the greatest catastrophe in human history.

I did just fine during the lockdowns. My stocks went through the roof and I had more work than I could handle. It was my best financial year ever in fact. Of course I got out of the stock market 3 months before it crashed and chose a career that is calamity proof.

I think the impact of the Biden regime will overshadow all previous harm.

Well, Trump could have used, as defined by Lincoln himself, “the awesome power of the presidency” to bury St Anthony deep in a bottomless pit somewhere in East Africa but instead, he all but handed the presidency to the little rat on a silver platter.

You gotta live with your choices. This was a fundamental failure of leadership as the president had 80 million people supporting him -

So far it is, but they haven’t seen anything yet.

They need to read the book of Revelation.

The headline writer is an idiot:

‘Most Catastrophic Event Of All Human History'

That headline is a FAR CRY from what Bhattacharya actually said: "...most catastrophically harmful policy in 'all of history' and '...the single biggest public health mistake, possibly of all history, in terms of the scope of the harm that it’s caused.'

Bhattacharya is exactly right.

...a data analyst consortium in South Africa found that the economic consequences of the country’s lockdown will lead to 29 times more people dying than the coronavirus itself.

In mid and late 2020, many people around the world were saying that the lockdown "cure" was going to be far worse than the disease itself. That position was espoused by many FReepers from the very beginning.

I hope this gains a lot of traction along with Fauci's complicity in funding the Wuhan lab to develop dangerous pathogens in contravention of US law.

It surely does not beat the Black Death, WWII, Communist revolutions and others.
But I was a disaster!

I did just fine during the lockdowns.

I also was fine. I pretty much ignored the whole thing as much as possible. I am self employed in a maintenance and repair type of service. I only had one person ask me to wear a mask and do the 6 feet thing. I worked for her exactly once.

I was fortunate. I feel awful for the people whose life work was destroyed, and were told their work was "non-essential". Communist bastards.
