Austin’s police department has been reduced by almost 200 officers upon seeing their budget slashed from $450M to about $300m, such that now they’re not able to handle many 911 calls.

The APD peaked in 2019 with about 1900 officers, but recently has been faced with an unusually large number of resignations and retirements. There is talk about the state having to take over some of Austin’s policing.

Glad I don’t live there anymore. Sounds like a bunch of innocents paid the price for two idiots shooting at each other. Probably gang related.

Hey, that is a bit unfair. My wife and I met and married in Austin, then moved out here 37 years ago. Not all Californians are whack jobs. Yeah, I’ll grant you most. OK, most all. One would think, tho, that those leaving would have enough brain cells to cut back a bit on the support for commie crappola. After all, they did manage to read a compass correctly when heading east. Perhaps red states need to em-place some sort of voter rules: “you came from Fl, you can vote in 6 months”, you came from Ca — wait 6 years”.

2016 study says Austin is 2nd best city in USA for those who hate liberty and love slavery to government.

“The study found that Austin ranks as the second-best place to be a liberal and is the only Texas city to make the list. Seattle came in at No.1.”

Those teaching CRT are the problem and have delved into BLM headfirst. If CRT is not being taught something akin to it will be. It is why they have now included DIE reps into every organization. CRT is the fad du jour and the issues behind CRT go much more deeper than people realize.

All these people at school board meetings speaking out are speaking out sure, but what do they do next? Unless the momentum continues, the movement against CRT continuing to make the United States Great again also dies. Trump was just a four year term President. More than that will be needed when the left has had hundreds of years to do their damage to this country. Meanwhile this movement dies and people go back to sleep. Americans are reactionary. Leftists are pre-emptive, conniving and sneaky as they contrive of new ways to not only gain power but to fix what George Washington refused to do, become an authoritarian ruler (King).

ISIS is a different matter altogether because when the leftists take over and keep welcoming them into their circles, they will eventually take them over and it will be either convert or die. The jizya is only paid while Islam is removing all others from their land.

RE: Austin taken over by Californians....there is not much hope left for the country...Florida could be next...I see a lot of cars from California...

Why would they leave California if they were already in paradise? The Dem Uniparty controls everything. Why leave? Why?

The Socialist Woody Guthrie wrote and sang:
Do Re Mi

California is a garden of Eden, a paradise to live in or see
But believe it or not you won’t find it so hot
If you ain’t got the do re mi

You want to buy you a home or a farm that can’t deal nobody harm
Or take your vacation by the mountains or sea
Don’t swap your old cow for a car, you better stay right where you are
You better take this little tip from me

If you ain’t got the do re mi boys you ain’t got the do re mi
Why, you better go back to beautiful Texas
Oklahoma, Kansas, Georgia, Tennessee

...they did manage to read a compass correctly when heading east.

When Neal Cassady arrived at the Pacific Ocean shore with Jack Kerouac on their trip chronicled in On the Road, he said what Kerouac wrote in the scroll version as: "“Here I was at the end of America...no more land..."

So then the Californians must have figured out the opposite direction must be east. Clever.

It once was a beautiful town

It really was. I’m old enough to remember it in the early 80s when there was just one Kerbey Lane Cafe in a cool old house, really fun concerts on the lake on Thursday nights, Club Foot, Raoul’s, Hippie Hollow and unspoiled nature all around. It was quirky and offbeat but not sinister.

I hate seeing what the left has done to it.

LOL - I hate predictive text. I figured it was me because it gets me all the time. 😄

I remember Kerbey Lane had great black bean soup among other things. I haven’t been in years. The last time I went to Austin was for a wedding a couple of weeks before the Covid shutdowns and we found a little hole in the wall, family run Mexican restaurant that was delicious.

I’ve been going to Austin, off and on, for over ten years.....we have family there
Keep Austin Weird seemed a charming title for a quirky town.....
.....but it has gone downhill so fast!

Round Rock Donuts for the win!

I also like Round Top - especially during bluebonnet season. And a slice of pie at Royer’s is a must. We eat at Teague’s Tavern and then stop at Royer’s for dessert.

Outrageous anti-Second-Amendment Mayor's comment at the bottom of that article.
