COWBOY BUILDERS Roads to nowhere, abandoned railways and half-built bridges – China’s ‘debt traps’ schemes which cost nations BILLIONS

The Communist Party's creeping influence and international ambitions are being seen through its Belt and Road Initiative - which sees nations in Asia and Africa wooed by Beijing's ambitious promises....

...Wooed by the glitzy sales pitch, many cannot afford to keep up with the return payments when China comes knocking like an international loan shark.

And then the building projects end up being abandoned or unfinished until the debt is settled - with the Communist Party more than happy to take their pound of flesh.

The initiative has seen China get its hands on resource rich mountains in Tajikistan and allegedly take a stake in a key port in Sri Lanka...

...Tajikistan, which shares a border with China's Xinjiang province, was forced to hand over territory of 1,158 square kilometres of the Pamir mountains to China after defaulting on loans.

It meant the Chinese companies snagged rights to mine gold, silver and other mineral ores in the region.

And Laos has become the latest victim ....

these projects don't even bring jobs - contracts stipulate that chinese firms and workers build the projects, which are then abandoned after some new regulation on financing is imposed by Beijing.

What rational government would agree to pay China for anything?

China builds a road through your county, then, you pay China?

This is a comedy, right?

Maybe lost in translation?

to summarize, china promises a grand project, dangles trade benefits, and offers a loan with scheduled payments. China starts building then changes loan terms. Countries can’t meet the terms because the promised increase in trade never materializes. They default, China grabs land or resources and stops the project, and withddraws their chinese workers. Leaving lots of roads to nowhere behind. (Giving one the impression China never intended to complete any work, the true focus being gaining access to resources while diplomatically neutering any complaints about resource exploitation)

The article shows several pix of unfinished bridges, train rails, highways, etc.

How long until this is exposed?

It will take our conservative efforts to tell these poor, failing countries that CHINA IS NOT THE ANSWER.

China is the problem.

I imagine there are countries in Africa that will not take “kindly” to their...Chinese...schemes.

Wait...and Learn.

ChiCom’s bought their politicians, Just Like here in the USA.

Internal Traitors siding with ChiCom Liars and Crooks.

This is the enemy we fight.

In our case? Great Evil destroying the goodness that built the USA.

A 'concrete' effort by the CCCP to gain influence, but, so similar to our (USofA) foreign aid, waste and debt follows!

What rational government would agree to pay China for anything?

A government whose leaders were paid off to sell out their country to China.

Someone needs to remind Governor Kemp in Georgia that he is doing exactly the same thing to Georgia, USA by taking ChiCom money and using ChiCom owned Dominion Voting Systems to keep him in office. (it won’t, and he may go to jail eventually)

When things don’t make sense? Follow the money. Especially ChiCom money.

In a damning statement, former US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson once said Beijing "uses opaque contracts, predatory loan practices, and corrupt deals that mire nations in debt and undercut their sovereignty, denying them their long-term, self-sustaining growth".

Tillerson was right.

And the really great part, is that the roads and bridges can be built on the cheap and sub-standard, since they will never be used - just like all of China’s products.

China plans on destroying America. Trade with America will be worthless to China, and really has been for decades. This is a necessary outreach toward new alternatives, and like all Chinese plans, it does not appear well thought out.

I’ve heard about the Belt and Road Initiative for years, but never looked into it. If this is an accurate representation (and that’s a big IF as the is the UK Sun), then I think it will end up doing China much more harm than good. Any gains they get in the short term will be more than canceled out by bad press & resentment in the mid-long term. This whole concept is both sneaky and ham-handed.

All while China owes Americans over $1 trillion in unpaid treasuries (counting interest) that China has refused to pay on since they became communist.

Basically, the world's largest loan shark refuses to pay its own loans.

What rational government would finance bioweapons research by its biggest enemy?

It's 2021, rationality is nonexistent.

Well, why is anyone surprised? Communism is not about accomplishing anything. They are not project managers. They are about process. We, the overlords, set out the process, and you; the peasants follow the process. Easy peasy. This keeps everyone busy and US in charge.

Exactly.
A lot of the money ends up in the coffers of local politicians who then go crying to the West for relief from Chicom predatory practices.
