AUSTIN (KXAN) — The City of Austin and Travis County will require face masks for residents in city and county buildings and public schools — in direct opposition to a ban by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott
Austin Mayor Steve Adler and Travis County Judge Andy Brown announced the decision Wednesday evening, with Brown saying: “Mayor Adler and I signed orders requiring masks in public schools and county/city buildings. With our kids back in school next week, our community & public health officials have called on us to take this reasonable measure. This will protect countless lives & keep us safe.”
On Tuesday, district judges ruled to allow Dallas and Bexar counties the authority to implement their mask mandates, at least temporarily. Last month, Abbott said he would not be reinstating a statewide mask mandate, instead directing Texans to adhere to “personal responsibility.”

If a state mandate is meaningless... how can a city mandate mean anything?
There are no real laws anymore.
There are no rules anymore.
Power belongs to the bold who take action.
Austin in being bold, they are taking action, they are doing whatever the hell they want.
Gov Abbott has options — including the National Guard. Will Gov Abbott be bold? Will he take action? Will he use power?
Or will he shrug and say, “Go ahead. Ignore me. You be you.”?
I’m willing more have died from suicide, car accidents, etc. than Covid.
my 3 school aged kids have been pulled since 2020... not going back this year. They’re homeschooled and far ahead of their peers. I will never let my kids step foot in public school.
I grew up in a rough public school system in the 80’s and 90’s and it was like juvie hall and a prison prep system.
Guess we will see what Abbott is made of.

The people also need to be bold. If the city can ignore a state mandate then the people can ignore a city mandate.
More than should have or would have there is no doubt about that.
