Blinken: This is manifestly not Saigon

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday defended President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw American troops from Afghanistan as Taliban fighters began entering the capital, Kabul.

In a series of interviews on Sunday talk shows, Blinken said the US succeeded in its mission of bringing those responsible for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks to justice and argued that remaining in the country was not sustainable.

“Remaining in Afghanistan for another one, five, 10 years was not in the national interest,” Blinken said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

While many have started comparing Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan to America’s flight from Saigon during the Vietnam War in 1975, Blinken pushed back against that comparison.

“This is manifestly not Saigon,” the Secretary of State said on ABC’s “This Week”, adding that Biden had a “tough decision” to make after the Trump administration established a deadline of May 1 to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.

“If the president had decided to stay, all gloves would have been off. We would have been back at war with the Taliban,” Blinken said, adding the US would likely have had to send tens of thousands of additional troops to the country to fight.

His first day in office Pedo Joe overturned so many of the orders issued by President Trump, BUT

THE ONE ABOUT LEAVING AFGANISTAN ...

THAT’S THE ONE he needed to follow.

This Blinken guy is just as much of a putz as his leader.

We need to meme this.

Vietnam on the left, labeled “Saigon”.

Kabul on the right, labeled “Not Saigon”.

You are essentially correct. Al Qaeda did not own any landmass in a country. Ruling Taliban in Afghanistan gave sanctuary to Osama and his gang driven out of Saudi Arabia. So we got into war in Afghanistan with hopes of converting into a western style democracy. What a cruel joke! Afghanistan is the last place on earth ready for democracy. It is a dusty hilly country full of poppy fields run by tribes who live for Islam. Is there any Islamic country in south Asia which has formed a democracy? Islam can operate only in one environment-dictatorship.

The Taliban funded Al Quaeda. The Taliban supported Al Quaeda. The Taliban refused to allow the US to attack Al Quaeda who were based out of Afghanistan.

That’s how we ended up in Afghanistan, Charlie Brown.

Still waiting for W to make a statement.

f reports about the Taliban setting up checkpoints are the airport are true, there may not be any more unrestricted departures for Afgan citizens or other nationals. In that case, they can arrest and hold anyone they want - and likely that will be any Afgan who worked with us.

If you have to actually say it’s not so-and-so then it is so-and-so.

It would not surprise me to see the fact checkers label Blinken’s claim as “True” on the basis that Kabul is, in fact, around 1400 miles away from Saigon and thus manifestly not Saigon.

You are right. It’s infinitely worse! Biden has created a catastrophic disaster as the world is being rocked by the videos of chaos at the airport and the slaughter that is just beginning across Afghanistan. For there, infused with enthusiasm and untold billions of dollars worth of American weapons, Global Jihad has been given a new life. The Taliban now possess more attack helicopters that 166 other countries in the world. Strategic map of the Middle East, and the world has been changed. The Russian Embassy, and the Chinese Embassy remain open as usual. They will be untouched. The American ambassador himself had the privilege of burning all the American flags on the way out. Bill Ayers would be proud.*

(*Ayers was a domestic terrorist who with Bernadine Dohrn coordinated bombings of the Pentegon, the US Capitol, and NYC Police Headquarters. Oh, by the way he was friends with Barack Obama.)

Technically he’s right, because it’s Kabul. But it’s very much LIKE Saigon.

If I were the Taliban I would pay children $5 each to do paintings to fill the walls of government buildings and sign each one with "Hunter Biden", the famous son of the famous Taliban patriot Joe Biden who made Allah's Dreams come true.

Peace be with you.
