Food Inflation Hits Record High, Prices Up Sharply On Beef, Chicken, Pork, Turkey, Eggs, And Fish
Breitbart ^ | 9-11-2021 | John Carney

Putting food on the kitchen table has become much more expensive, squeezing household budgets at a time when many families are already stressed by the Delta variant surge hitting as kids go back to school.

Food prices rose a full percentage point in August, up from six-tenths of a point in July, defying predictions that inflation would cool off, data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed Friday. Compared with a year ago, food prices are up 12.7 percent, outpacing the overall increase of 8.3 percent in the Producer Price Index.

On an annual basis, that is the highest level of food inflation in records that go back to 2010. The monthly figure is the third-highest on record, following May 2020’s pantry-raid that emptied many grocery store shelves and February 2011.

Prices of some staples have been driven sky-high. Some of the truly startling annual numbers from Friday’s Producer Price Index:

•Beef and Veal: +59.2 percent
•Pork: +34.1 percent
•Chickens: +32 percent
•Fish: +18 percent
•Turkey: +41.4 percent
•Fresh eggs: +31.7 percent

Shortening and cooking oils are up a jaw dropping 43.5 percent.

Not all food prices are up, of course. Dairy prices are down. Fresh fruits and vegetable prices have fallen (although canned fruits and vegetable prices are up).

Grain prices are up an incredible 98 percent...

Before long stores will only take ebt with that kind of big money coming in. I can tell ebt fillup days at the local market. It's when I buy a single pound of ground beef for almost $5 and have to nudge around some filling baskets with 40-50 lbs of meat (won't get into any raysis demographics descriptions).

Indeed I’ve noticed it too it’s the carts with chips sodas cookies and any junk food on a shelf it’s a wonder the store doesn’t charge them by the carts weight.
Odd how it’s the ones with the pants that look like 10 pounds of potatoes in a 2 pound bag.

I'm used to paying $3.49 lbs for bacon and was shocked to see it $11.99 lbs.
Bacon is now a luxury item.

Yeah it’s strange because ham and cuts of pork in general haven’t gone up that much.

I’ve noticed something similar with beef too. The cheaper cuts have gone up a little but ribeye, t-bone, KC strip have all doubled or tripled.

It’s like we have meat for the upper class and meat for the lower class now.

Bone in sirloin pork chops $1.19/lb near me right now. Same place has bacon at ten times that price. Crazy.

Fuel prices up 43% since the inauguration. Fortunately, I have a floating fuel surcharge. Still will have to raise prices because of increase in parts prices. Air bags up $50 each.

keep voting Dem....

Let’s get in the faces of Dem associates, neighbors, relatives, coworkers, congregation members and others.

I got the idea from U.S. Congress member Maxine Waters.
My version is still just hostile chin music for now.
