Biden’s authoritarian vaccine mandate overreach: Making Americans chose between providing for their families or getting a COVID-19 shot
Wash Times ^ | Sep 22, 2021 | Alan Wilson, AG of SC

During his September 9 press conference, President Biden laid out his plan to address the COVID-19 pandemic and the Delta variant surge. This was perhaps the most authoritarian speech I have heard. The President’s most telling statement was when he said, “This is not about freedom or personal choice. It’s about protecting yourself and those around you — the people you work with, the people you care about, the people you love.”

This statement completely abandons the concept of freedom and liberty for the perception of temporary safety through expanded government power. Suppose President Biden’s executive action is allowed to stand. In that case, any President can use this reasoning to justify taking any unilateral action on anything they want without any authority granted by Congress. Who is to say that this justification cannot be used to support the regulatory confiscation of guns, a regulatory prohibition on smoking, a regulatory prohibition on the consumption of unhealthy foods, and even regulatory limits on free speech – after all, it’s not about freedom or personal choice but about protecting us from ourselves and each other...

With President Biden’s policy, there has been no debate and no action taken by Congress. Instead, the President has decided to put the Constitution on the proverbial chopping block. He seeks to effectuate this policy through the power and overreach of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)...

Mr. President, you are wrong. This is about freedom. This is about personal choice. Just as important, it is about the rule of law and the sanctity of the safeguards of the Constitution. The Framers put these protections in place to prevent you from taking this authoritarian action. Yours is a power grab personified. One man cannot substitute himself for the 535 members of Congress or 50 state governments.

The DNC knows full well the conservatives will not do a thing about it.
This was all a test.
We failed horribly.
Expect much bigger and more encroaching tyranny in our immediate future

Best bet now is to ghost from society and declare yourself a pregnant illegal alien.

With illegal invaders getting everything, what is the benefit of citizenship?

"Voting" in phoney-baloney "elections?".

Leftists are banking on half of Americans being too complacent to take a stand. And the other half being too stupid.

Michaelmas (/ˈmɪkəlməs/ MIK-əl-məs; also known as the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, the Feast of the Archangels, or the Feast of Saint Michael and All Angels) is a Christian festival observed in some Western liturgical calendars on 29 September.

Thank you for properly differentiating Western liturgical calendars from those of Orthodox Christians.

BTW St. Michael and All Angels appears on the calendars of The Episcopal Church, the various Lutheran bodies--and; believe it or not, the Amish, who celebrate on the Julian Calendar date of October 11.

In the Orthodox Church we celebrate the Synaxis of the Holy Archangels on November 8 (New Calendar)/November 21 (Julian Calendar).

On September 29 the Orthodox Church Commemorates Cyriacus the Hermit of Palestine and the Martyr Petronius. Those following the Julian Calendar Commemorate Euphemia the Great Martyr; Sebastiana, Disciple of St. Paul the Apostle; and Dorotheos the Hermit of Egypt.

There is nothing more important to protect than freedom. Quoting from memory:

Is life so dear, so sweet, so precious, as to be purchased with the price of chains? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

Initially some sources said lawsuits can’t start until the EO is signed. My understanding is that there’s no EO to sign. Biden directed OSHA to draft rules for mandatory vaccination by some other means and the rule creation is in-process as we speak.

If that’s the case, when do lawsuits start? After the rules have been put in place and everybody who wouldn’t/couldn’t comply has lost their jobs already? Seems like every time Trump did something the democrats got an injunction in place within a day or two. Republicans barked on September 9th and seemingly, haven’t done much since. I’m getting a sinking feeling that a lot of GOP governors are actually in favor of the mandate, saves them the trouble of addressing the issue themselves, and are slow-walking a response.

I guess I was hoping this would get frozen and tied up in court indefinitely, but doesn’t look like anything is going to stop it before it happens and the damage is already done.

Not unless and until beaucoup business owners say with full voice:

WE DO NOT CONSENT!

“While it is laudable to want every American to be vaccinated”

That is unproven. This injection is experimental treatment. This statement does not even provide for rational exceptions which apply to all medical treatments. Treatment decisions should be individualized, between a doctor and patient and with informed consent of the patient.

It’s good that the author approves of individual autonomy in making personal medical decisions. But making broad medical pronouncements tends to nullify his position.

Well, my employer sent out an email immediately following the president’s speech on the 9th warning all employees who aren’t vaccinated “yet” that the company intends to fully comply with the mandate — before the scope of the mandate was (or is) even clear.

Nothing else official since, but some friends who work for the fedgov heard, unofficially, that December 8th is chopping block day for noncompliant federal works and contractors. Federal contracts are a tiny portion of what my company does but apparently we’re considered a contractor nonetheless.

“A tiny part”...kinda like being “a little bit pregnant”.

Bean counters had better start doing serious cost/benefit analysis, IMHO.

Yeah I was hoping that being designated a contractor was tied to a % or something — ie x% of gross income must be from federal contracts in order to be considered a contractor. But apparently, and not surprisingly, it’s binary.

Right before Christmas, how nice.

Raytheon put out Jan 1 as their deadline. I imagine the rest of the industry will go with a similar timeframe. I work for a federal contractor and they haven’t put out any info yet, but that’s coming soon.

Trump will get us nowhere but more of the same

I think his handling of COVID was unfortunate. His instincts were correct on anti-viral therapies (HCQ, IVM, etc), but his choice of experts was disastrous. He needed pandemicists, not virologists.

However, he is the overwhelming favorite who can win and did win reelection.

and? they’ll still vote for him and dems midterms.
The best we get when blacks are pissed off at the dems is they sit home on election night.

I thought this was interesting as well:

>>>While the name is not used in the legal systems of the United States, where most American courts operate on continuous year-round calendars without terms, the U.S. Supreme Court roughly follows the English custom by beginning its annual nine-month term on the first Monday in October, a few days after Michaelmas.<<<

It is also a hat tip to the Byzantine calendar in which the Ecclesiastical year begins on September 1.
