If you hoped grocery stores this fall and winter would look like they did in the Before Times, with limitless options stretching out before you in the snack, drink, candy and frozen foods aisles, get ready for some disappointing news.
Many of the country's biggest food makers are telling grocers that they will have limited quantities of a number of their products, including items such as Rice Krispies Treats, Sour Patch Kids, some Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavors, McCormick gourmet spices and Marie Callender's pot pies because of labor, commodity and transportation constraints throttling supply chains, according to emails viewed by CNN and interviews with grocers. Some suppliers are also telling grocers to cancel their promotions of these items and more over the holidays so products won't disappear from store shelves as quickly.
These latest limits mean that stores won't have all things for all customers heading into the holidays, and shoppers may not be able to find some of their favorite products, flavors or niche items. But shoppers will still have plenty of options, including most of these companies' core products, which they are prioritizing over items in less demand — meaning, for instance, that if you're a fan of Ben & Jerry's popular Phish Food, you shouldn't have a problem, but the company's less-well known Cold Brew Caramel Latte might be harder to find.

They didn’t intend to, but a bunch of them caught a glimpse of an old Maxine Waters campaign poster and will be out of commission for at least a week.
they are going to ride the COVID excuse until the wheels fall off, aren’t they?
Are the Bees on strike ?
Same in Michigan. Where are the shelves empty? Hurricane areas?
I have 6 months supply in my freezers!
I don’t know if it’s fear porn. I think they’re covering for Biden - not his fault.
Toilet paper, pudding, bleach, and a bunch of other items have been out intermittently gone from the shelves at Costco and other stores where we are at South East of Seattle.
Most everything they mention when they talk about inflation, soda and snacks etc and everything on this article’s list, I don’t even buy.
Meat, potatoes, veggies, fruits, breads, dairy. Call us funny but that’s what we consume.
We’re starting to grow our own meat and will be going full tilt with gardening next year and planting fruit trees also.
I am stocking up: salt,TP, canned goods, dog & cat cans, & litter. Someone said on another site said chewy is limiting litter to one box & some canned cat food is unavailable.
BRANDLESS is a good site for paper goods & utensils & personal care items.
I have experienced eggplant and zucchini being out of stock which is strange considering it has always been available. Chicken..sporadic outages.
I was in my local Home Depot yesterday and while at the self checkout, I heard one worker tell another, “we’re short so many things” and “we need more employees.”
I haven’t seen a lot of empty shelves yet, but there is one I’ve noticed that effects me: V8 and tomato juice supplies seem to be drying up. Individual servings are vanishing, and only a few large bottles are left.
When they fired the incompetent corrupt Biden Democrats
I would never of beloved in 2021 we would be looking back fondly at 2020 as the “good times”.
I went to Walmart today and a lot of shelves were bare, especially in the frozen food and fresh meat. All of the breakfast sausage and most of the bacon was gone. A lot of empty space in the canned food aisle too.
“V8 and tomato juice supplies seem to be drying up”
There’s a lot more V-6s and I-4s being produced today.
V-8 is on the wane.
I detect an undercurrent of glee in this reporting….as if we greedy Americans have it coming.
I’ve been frequenting the grocery store a lot recently. Hamburger is on sale for 2.99/lb (I use to purchase at 1.99/lb) so I’m stocking up. Canned cat and dog food is scarce so I’m ordering from Chewy.com and grabbing what is left at the store. I have a cancer dog and a dementia dog so, at this time, I feed them whatever they’ll eat. As long as I have beef, cream, coffee, and cheese for myself, I’m set. After the scare last year, I pick up extra toilet paper as well (one pack - I hate hoarders!)
When I go to my local convenience store lots of shelves are empty. Not staples but candy, ice cream, stuff like that is not getting restocked. I assume it’s only going to get worse and more things will disappear. Call it fear porn but Biden is f-ing up this country worse than anyone in a couple of generations at least. In my half a century of living I’ve seen inflation before, bad inflation, but other than the gas crisis of the 70s (when I was in elementary school) I’ve never seen widespread shortages across very diverse product lines like are building up now.
