Steak could become a ‘luxury product’ thanks to climate impact, CEO fears

Steak could become a champagne-type luxury because beef isn’t climate friendly to produce, the head of Europe’s top meat processor said.

Danish Crown CEO Jais Valeur told Denmark’s Berlingske newspaper on Monday that beef will eventually become a “luxury product” because of the climate impact of producing it.

“Beef is not going to be super climate friendly. It will be a bit like champagne, namely a luxury product,” Valeur said.

“The beef cattle will be a luxury product that we eat when we need to pamper ourselves.”

Valeur said the way people consume and think about meat is going to need to change in the coming years as meat processing companies face pressure to curb greenhouse gases in the fight against climate change.

Takes the mind off hunger for some people I guess.

At least for a while.

I was visiting my mother today at her memory care facility and I flipped on the TV. The Omega Man was playing. I suppose the double feature would be Soylent Green.

Not for politicians and the rich - I bet FDR and his gang had steak during WW2.

Fun fact: Soylent Green was set in 2022.

Now that I didn’t know. I’ll be sure to brush up on my Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony. I believe that was the music that Charlton Heston’s dad chose to enter the food chain.

Omega Man is my favorite between the two.

That old starlight scope is cool looking even long obsolete.

In 1990 I was in Zurich, Switzerland on my first honeymoon.
I went to an American bar(served Bud beer, etc). I was tired of eating Euro food.
I ordered a beef steak.

An old man sitting next to me asked me what I was eating?
I replied: a steak.
What kind he asked?
A beef steak.

He acted like he had never seen one before. He was probably in his 60’s or 70’s. I was told by the bartender that they did not a lot of beef steak in that part of the world. They had it on the menu mostly for visiting American tourists like ME.

When I turned it on, it was after the two survivors had their interlude. The actress was nude but they were using distortion over her naughty bits. My mother was curious as to why the screen was all fuzzy.

As luck would have it, tonight I’m grilling some prime steaks I picked up at the store yesterday. Then on Thursday, for our anniversary, we’re going to a steakhouse.

Let the yooropeeins and skandinavions treat beef as they like. Remember; That’s Greta Thunberg’s place of origin. The idiocy she preaches was browbeat INTO her. She didn’t get it from the teat. A poster earlier today here on FR stated the the US has a actual glut of beef and other meats. Anything resembling a shortage is being engineered by enemies of the real people, who hate us and wish us ill.
