That term was first used by black civil rights leaders, I believe in the 1930s. I don’t believe most people, including Rogers, would know that, or have a reason to know that. The way the term is commonly used, it covers a lot more than it did originally. Rogers can hardly be accused of blasphemy against the sacrosanctity of the term. We have seen a lot of politically-motivated corruption of language, including the term “woke.”. It is ungrammatical and sounds silly and ignorant to me. I don’t use it unless I have to.
Just another annoying example of an inability to properly conjugate verbs, in my book. A friend told me about a TV show (COPS?) in which a black man was comforting a friend who was shot, telling him to “stay woke” as in remain conscious. Sure, it’s come to mean something else, mostly by whitey, from what I see, but I have no respect for the term. Is it to be another of “their words?”
And then by the 50s and 60s when Marxism had invaded race ideology big time it would transition to be about Marxism with race as window dressing, of making useful idiots to tear down the civilization but were incapable of anything besides tearing down.
Like all aspects of Cultural Marxism, this Marxist racism of CRT / Woke is now the cold dead hands of the old Soviet Union still grasping for our collective throats.
