German officials are mulling the possibility of enacting stricter coronavirus restrictions across the country amid a surge in daily infections.
Chancellor Angela Merkel called on German state heads to decide whether to opt in to a full lockdown and vaccine mandate by Wednesday, according to CNBC.
On Tuesday, health minister Jens Spahn starkly warned citizens that “pretty much everyone in Germany will be vaccinated, recovered or dead" by the end of this winter while calling for more restrictions to be put in place. He also called for more public places to implement the "3G rule," or to limit access to only those who are vaccinated, have had a negative COVID-19 test or recently recovered from the virus, CNBC reported.

They are foolish, probably because they are panicked. This is the “Delta” wave finally hitting Germany hard, and that in spite of a very high vaccination rate.
But as we should all know by now, these vaccinations dont do much about infections. Its about time officials acknowledge that. Minor personal note - I had to show my US vaccination card in Dusseldorf airport to make a connection this year. Thats the sort of bureaucratic rule that is being shown to be useless.

Living in Germany this has been a cluster f*ck since Day 1.
The politicians have not got a clue but they all have ‘cunning plans’(Credit to Baldrick from Black Adder Goes Forth). Like the clueless brass in this WWI setting they keep trying the same thing again and again and cannot understand why nothing is working. However, in the Great War the youth of many nations lost their lives in this stupidly. Today, it is all of us.
I am about ready to (see my tagline) book the next flight to the “Free State of Florida” buy a home and enjoy sunshine, low taxes and being normal. Germany was once a Toytown but today the whole place is turning into a concentration camp with the sheep waiting for the nice shower that has been promised/s.

(I had a relatively mild case of COVID in November of 2020, and my wife and 12-year-old son were in quarantine for the required two weeks. Despite being in very close physical proximity with each other for 14 days, neither my wife or son "succumbed." But I no longer am deemed "recovered," and we reject compulsory injections.)
Already, we can no longer take the bus, or sit down and drink a cup of coffee in a café. But now, it looks like the govt. is actually going to be actively coming after us.
Time to begin planning our escape (literally).
Never thought that it would come to this when I came here 40 years ago.
