This is what the young’uns call “riding dirty”. I daresay cops wouldn’t catch nearly as many criminals if the baddies just kept up on their license and registration.

That is often an excuse for cops to stop somebody when they recognize the people in the vehicle as “frequent law enforcement consumers”. Most cops know their beat, and they know who is up to no good. Expired tags, etc. is a reason to stop them and check them out. It’s also a good way to run some of them out of the area. That’s what good policing is, but people don’t get it.
