Except we did - Africa has 1.2 billion people. over 250 million doses were donated and shipped thru Covax as of Sep 2021. More millions of doses were donated directly by the US, UK, France, Germany, China, blah blah blah.

Africa initially was low priority, not because of racism, but because the median age in many AFrican countries is below 20 years old. And therefore the least at risk. While in western countries it was primarily elderly that were most at risk.

Additionally, if one recalls, there were some African leaders who were doing the whole, 'we won't be white man's guinea pigs' when the vaccines first came out, which slowed uptake of donated doses

Right. Because the vax is doing a bang-up job preventing the spread of this. And by "bang-up" I mean it doesn't seem to work at all. Not even a little bit.
