The Hill ^ | 12/29/21 06:00 AM EST | MAX GREENWOOD

The 2024 presidential election may still be three years away, but Republicans have already begun to jockey for their places in the primary.

Former President Trump’s repeated hints that he could mount another bid for the White House remains perhaps the biggest obstacle for other would-be contenders.

While none have spoken definitively about their plans for 2024, many potential candidates have already started networking with GOP leaders and donors in key states while testing out campaign messages in public appearances.

If Trump runs the Nomination is his. If he doesn’t run, my bets would all be on DeSantis.

Precisely! Great minds think alike :)

Maybe DeSantis will be Trumps VP. Why wouldn’t that work?

“What seems a best-case scenario to me at this point is for Trump to announce fairly early after November, most conservatives stay out, Trump strolls to the nomination, and then names DeSantis to the ticket in the summer of 2024. DeSantis can then say he is grateful and honored to serve Florida but the nation calls.”

All depends on DeSantis’ wife’s state of health. She has breast cancer. same reason he won’t run for Prez this time around. He won’t go up against Trump anyhow.

If that was the ticket, I would support it, because they are both great.

With massive vote fraud now given a green light because it will never even be allowed to be challenged in the highest court, it is completely irrelevent who runs as a Republican.

I’m not sure if I was clear- I thought she did a good job in the UN but I don’t want her anywhere near running for president.

The UN was her High Water level of competency.

Not a question of whether or not it will work. Desantis is in firm agreement with President Trump’s policies. If President Trump runs there is no reason for Desantis to run or join the ticket as he is far more effective as the Governor of Florida than he would be as a mere VP. Which is pretty much a ceremonial position with no real power.
He has far more influence as the Governor of Florida. And, he is still young, presidential-wise. He has plenty of time. And as a governor, he has the opportunity to further bolster his credentials for a future presidential run.

Larry Hogan?! Ha! Mike Pence? A good man but more vanilla than Breyer’s. Haley and Christie pure RINOs with delusions of relevance.

“Mike Pence Chris Christie Nikki Haley ... Larry Hogan”

Cut the list by four: these are all nonstarters.
