Neil Young's Spotify boycott over Joe Rogan content backed by WHO director-general

Neil Young has a big supporter in his Spotify boycott.

Earlier this week, the famed rocker wrote an open letter to the streamer, threatening to remove his music from the platform. He blamed Spotify for spreading false information about COVID-19 vaccines via Joe Rogan's podcast.

"They can have Rogan or Young. Not both," he wrote in the letter. Spotify has since removed the artist's music.

On Thursday, the "Heart of Gold" singer's boycott of the platform was praised by Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization.

".@NeilYoungNYA, thanks for standing up against misinformation and inaccuracies around #COVID19 vaccination," Ghebreyesus wrote on Twitter. "Public and private sector, in particular #socialmedia platforms, media, individuals - we all have a role to play to end this pandemic and infodemic."

A spokesperson for Spotify told the Wall Street Journal that they had removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, in accordance with their detailed content policies.

"We want all the world’s music and audio content to be available to Spotify users. With that comes great responsibility in balancing both safety for listeners and freedom for creators," they said, later adding: "We regret Neil’s decision to remove his music from Spotify, but hope to welcome him back soon."

Actually, a subset of “hippies” if you can call them that. Correct me if I am wrong the label “hippie” was a media construct.
The early back to the landers were not into drugs and free love so much but we’re more like homesteaders.
I’m sure they smoke a little weed. But many did not.
Yes, there was a communistic undertone to their lifestyle.
One could say that about the Amish.
But there is nothing wrong with people choosing to live that way.
That’s not what’s happening with these modern day whack job leftist. The are NOT liberals BTW. prog commies areare not “live and let live”

LOVE Bobby Steele. Very disappointed that the Caiafa brothers are braindead leftists. Had a serious crush on Doyle until he turned out to be a brain dead moron.

Their one singer Michale Graves is a conservative, I think — former military. Very nice man.

As a side note, a lot of leftists and regressives insist people can’t be conservative, Christian and into the “alt” scene.

I lean toward the goth industrial side of things, and have several good friends who are hard conservatives and in the scene.

Horror Punk is my jam as the kids used to say.

Young is a woketard boomer Young is not a boomer. He was born the year before the "Baby Boomer" generation started. He is a woketard burnout, though.

I spend a decent amount of time checking out new, local music. Undoubtedly, the punk fans are the most interesting. On the outside, they're scary. But once you get talking, they're more angry at fakery than "legitimate" authority.

Sure...some guys are anti-Trump but they virtue signal that sentiment. And some guys are anarchists so they hate everyone.

But most of them want to be left alone to do their thing, and just like they don't want to be discriminated against, they won't discriminate (for the most part). They're pretty sensitive actually...a few of them work at animal shelters and in substance abuse counseling.

Bobby and the Undead did a Christmas gig a few years ago, and the punks LOVED the free cookies. It may have been their only meal of the day.

My favorite punk comment on this whole mess is from John Joseph, formerly of Cro-Mags

“I forget what the dude’s name is — he’s in some big f****** band — he’s, like, ‘I’m not playing any vaccinated-only shows (Clapton). He was in a big English band; I forget what the name of ’em is. [Then] you’ve got m************ like Dave Grohl who used to play drums for [1980s Washington, D.C. hardcore punk band] Scream and open up for the Cro-Mags, now he’s with the Flu Pfizers, the Flu Fighters, and it’s, like, ‘We’re playing vaccinated-only shows.’ What kind of b****** is that?

I saw that post, too...it’s probably the most concise yet accurate commentary on this topic.
