A video has shown people's desperate bid to flee Kyiv overnight on Tuesday as explosions struck residential areas and as many as 15,000 troops - an entire Russian army division - bore down on Ukraine's capital.

Footage from Kyiv station showed hundreds of civilians, some with young children, trying to cram onto an already packed train amid fears that the city could soon be turned into a war zone.

Air strikes rocked residential suburbs of the capital on Tuesday night as a 40-mile long convoy of Russian military vehicles inched closer, with fears that President Vladimir Putin's troops will soon lay siege to the city.

Another convoy was reported to be moving towards Kyiv from the south-east, with plans to encircle it.

"Putin can order 15,000 Russian troops into Kyiv but how many will leave the city alive?"

Russia wants to caps Ukraine with the infrastructure in tact because Putin wants to bring the Ukraine back as part of Russia and doesn't want to have to rebuild everything.

I believe his plan is to starve out cities and if they refuse to surrender he will drop massive rocket barrage on cities until each one capitulates.

And if you think the Biden Regime is going to resist that you're insane.

South of Japan means not all that far from Taiwan.

Looking forward input:

“You might conquer a country but no one can hold a country.”

Nazi Germany installed Vichy puppets into France in 1940. The resistance was inconsequential. They drained all the food out and sent it to Germany. They “held” France til 1944, and nothing internal ended that. Invasion / Liberation ended it.

The key thing to understand about “holding” a country is there is no law of the universe that says you must have elections. Simply do not have them.

For about 100 years the Brits had Viceroys in India. India didn’t vote for Viceroys.

Bora Bora was once a sovereign country with its own royal family. The French erased that in 1888 and they still “hold” it.

And of course we have all the Indian nations of the US. Conquered and 100s of years “held”.

So . . . yes, you CAN conquer a country and hold it afterwards.

I suspect the way to do this in Ukraine is capture the current government and ship them to Russia. Install a military tribunal to be purely technocratic, keeping the lights on and trains running. Withdraw troops so there is no target for guerrillas and enforce policy from the air.

Search for a puppet. Either hold no elections or add back in voting from Crimea and Donetsk/Luhansk and you can probably get your puppet elected.

Though there is no need. No requirement whatsoever for elections. Just let time pass.

The Germans made it clear that for every German soldier killed, they would shoot 100 hostages.

Obama didn’t help for same reason Trump didn’t help.

Not in our core interest. It is a EU problem not a USA problem.

The establishment is manufacturing consent to go to war with Russia.

If one thinks this Russian adventure is an existential threat to the West, grab a helmet and head to Ukraine.

"South of Japan means not all that far from Taiwan.

America doesn't have enough military might to fight a two front war anymore thanks to Obama, poor planning, and our imbecilic financing of China to super power status.

It looks like they have decided to defend Ukraine which is the right choice. What that means though is that Ukraine is suffering for no reason because Biden will not and cannot save it.

Demented Biden has totally ruin this country and yet so many lemmings on this site think he's going to save the Ukraine when he failed spectacularly on Afghanistan just five months ago.

Putin apologists are never scarce on this side of the aisle. Sometimes evil is just that.

Probably trying to discourage any sudden moves by China against Taiwan.

It would be interesting to know whether we have any naval assets in the Black Sea. We went through the Bosphorus on a cruise ship in 1998.
We made port in Yalta and Odessa Ukraine, Varna Bulgaria, and Volos Greece.

Coming up on day 7 and the ruskis are still bogged down in quagmires in Kharkov and Kiew. Total clown show. They have gotten as far as they have through sheer weight of numbers, not any brilliant strategy.

If they haven’t linked up yet with the units from Crimea, they’ve lost it. Yes, they can kill a lot of civilians with bombing and artillery but that doesn’t win wars.

Now they are looking at a protracted conflict fought with questionable troops against a determined enemy on their home ground. Not a good prospect.

And what’s the end game for them? Short of a Zelensky surrender which I don’t think they’re going to get, they don’t have many good options. And world sanctions are starting to bite hard.

At this point pootie should just make up some “mission accomplished” BS and go home.

Did you get a chance to see Constantinople?

Yeah, I know the Turks call it Istanbul but it will be Constantinople again someday after the curse of islamofascism is destroyed.

4 Strike Groups hanging out south of Japan are 4700 miles away from Moscow and 5000 miles from Crimea. What is the significance of that?

Taiwan.

Exactly this is a decapitation strategy as reported earlier by Western Intel agencies. It looks like they have not modified it and are going about their battle plan which is deliberate and patient. I just saw a story where the Poles are not going to send the warplanes. I expect NATO to beef their presence up in Europe to hold the line to prevent this from spilling over outside the Ukraine.

Best thing to do is get the best deal you can for now and see what happens in 2024.

Putin isn’t going to live forever, and hopefully if we get Trump back in the White House things can be rectified.

But we simply cannot risk escalating this with Bozo in the White House. Ukraine’s goose was cooked once Trump lost.

They upgraded those rockets with thermobaric warheads (mini MOAB.s) recently. If brought to bear on any city - only the lucky would walk out alive.
