‘The only thing we hear is blasts’: Residents say the port city of Mariupol is nearing a ‘humanitarian disaster.’

Mariupol, a key port city in southern Ukraine, has been under siege for days, leaving civilian areas burning and destroyed, according to video verified by The New York Times and interviews with residents.

Images have emerged only sporadically because of power and cellular network outages in the city. Mikhail Vershinin, head of the Donetsk Regional Patrol Police, told The Times that once residents had restored their connections, he expected “horrible footage” to flood the internet. He described the situation as being on “the brink of a humanitarian disaster.”

I don’t know how f I should be praying for the people to stand their ground or refugee to somewhere else. But the Ukrainians are up against the odds are then subjecting themselves to wholesale ruin.

And praise the Heavens that all their Generals and Colonels are being picked off one by one by ex-beauty queen sharpshooters!

It’s a great time to be Ukrainian.

If history is any guide, I guess that you should melt away from the cities, and return for a counter-insurgency later. Someone was saying that Ukraine was pretty flat and not very forested, though, which I guess makes it hard to hide out.

Exactly.

The Ukrainians collaborated with the Nazis in what is called the Bullet Holocaust of 1.5 million Jews.

Just Google “Babi Yar.”

Entire Jewish towns were wiped out. Men women, and children were marched to ravines where they were forced to strip and line up and then massacred, the bodies piled up dozens deep in the pits.

I wish people would educate themselves before hailing the criminal Zelensky and his murderous cohorts.

............I admit that I’m not familiar with what the Ukrainians did in WW II but I’m reminded of that old saying that ....”the enemy of my enemy is my friend”.

I also remember living in Tokyo 24 years after we NUKED em into oblivion. Now, the Japs are probably our best ally.

Yes, Azov, part of the Ukrainian military has been using those who wish to leave as human shields, and worse. They are based out of Mariupol, and there have been videos of their atrocities against ethic Russians and the Romani for well over 5 years for anyone who has followed events since Maiden.

So are they the ones who were harassing and shooting at Russians living in Donbas? All I’ve read is that “Russian separatists” were the ones shooting and bombing the Ukrainian Army and they were under strict orders not to shoot back. Yet 14,000 ppl were supposedly killed in Donbas since 2014. By whom then? This is so confusing and we’re all being manipulated here.

Unfortunately, our "rules-based international order" has forgotten some useful rules:

Medieval Siege Warfare fought according to Chivalric Code and Rules

Neither Attacker nor Defender involved in Medieval Siege Warfare wanted a prolonged siege. Medieval Siege Warfare was conducted according to Chivalric Rules and a truce or settlement would always be attempted, according to the Chivalric Code, before Medieval Siege Warfare commenced. The Chivalric Code regulated Medieval Siege Warfare. These rules allowed surrender under honourable terms. Each side would have estimated the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition. Medieval Siege Warfare was costly and Siege Weapons and the besieging forces would not be assembled until it was believed that all truce negotiations would fail. The Medieval Siege Warfare rules of the honorable Chivalric Code included the following elements:

The foolish Hannity keeps harping about the 40 mile long line and why doesn’t Ukraine take it ou?

Hannity would fail famously is he were a general.

Russia owns the airspace. Russia is using the 40 mile long line as a bargaining chip. This thing is over.....Zelensky needs to sign the treaty.

This all could have been avoided back in October...but Joe and the idiots at State pushed and pushed and Putin had no choice.

Hannity is owned by the deep state......

I have been told for days that Ukraine was winning. Now the story says they are not. I though those Russian lads were told to go home and grow up.

It appears based on many comments on other threads, this is all good. Russia must win at all costs to save the world.

Putler continuing his Stalingrad tactics.

In the end, Russia has no legs to keep this going.

Dead economy, dead technology, dead equipment, dead logistical power, dead morale, and sadly, dead soldiers.

As the thousands of Javelins, Stingers, sniper rifles, and other European weaponry pours in, those poor Russian boys are entering a hornets nest they are not likely to withstand.

Here is another truth. Our media, collectively, have only handful of reporters in the region.

Fox doesn’t spend much on correspondents. The buy b-roll footage and cover it with “in studio” commentary. That’s all you see 24/7.

CNN and MSMBC are slightly better but they still run with every release handed to them by the state department.

There is VERY little independent journalism going on these days. The liberal AP probably turns out the most original content. Yuk!
