Germany Goes Ahead With First LNG Terminal to Cut Dependence on Russian Gas
WSJ ^ | 05-MAR-2022 | Georgi Kantchev

Germany unveiled more details Saturday on its plan to build its first liquefied natural-gas terminals as it seeks to wean itself off its dependence on Russian gas.

The terminals are the latest step in Berlin’s diversification efforts that have been urgently ramped up in recent days following Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Germany gets around 55% of its gas from Moscow and has long been resistant to diversifying away from cheap and plentiful Russian energy supplies.

Merkel agreed to build an LNG facility under pressure from Trump. She then canceled it after Biden came in.

Also Trump pushed Germany to get defense spending up to 2% of GDP and Merkel refused.

Fast forward a year and Germany is building LNG and 2% of GDP.

Boy, if an LNG ship was hit with a bomb or missile that would make quite a kaboom!

I’m of the opinion that Merkel was a Russian asset going back to her East German commie days.

German leaders are smarter than Biden, they adjust to reality eventually.

I’ve wondered about Merkel, too. What a better place for a communist than to be leader of a major European country and a member of a “conservative” party, too.

Same tactic here, will cancel again. Appearances over substance.

Ok, good idea. However, that will take time and where are they going to get a major supplier of LNG? Oh right, until Biteme and handlers came along, we exported a lot of LNG. Hopefully there are some suppliers in that hemisphere.

Exactly. Who makes for a better sleeper agent — a fire-breathing, polarizing extremist or someone bland, frumpy and allegedly of the center-right?

"Not flammable in its liquid form"

Correct, however if the cooling system fails and allows seepage from LNG, it will go back to its gaseous state which is highly flammable. BTW, natural gas is mostly methane. STOP EATING BEEF, THEY FART METHANE! What? I do also and destroying the Urf?

Kabuki theater. The US and Germany are still buying from Russia. The tough talk is all for show.

“I’m of the opinion that Merkel was a Russian asset going back to her East German commie days.”

That would explain, literally, EVERYTHING.

The one thing Russia fears the most from Europe is another German-led invasion. So what better way to prevent it, than with Merkel’s policies on energy, and her open borders for long-term repopulation efforts, thereby putting a permanent end to the German people as a race (or whatever the right term is).

The problem is where the going to get the gas from?

LNG facility under Trump makes sense as we were also producing and building the infrastructure (pipeline) on our side

Biden kill all that so they canceled it after Biden came in.

So now who going to provide the gas

The irony is that Putin with his closed European market will likely build oil and gas export ports in the Crimea area and ship to the world

That or the Iranian negotiations deal will provide the oil.
