‘I Wouldn’t Mind if the West Gets Its Butt Kicked’: The Israelis Siding With Putin
Haaretz ^ | March 2, 2022 | Allison Kaplan Sommer

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began last week, most Israeli leaders across the political spectrum have either expressed full support for Ukrainians or cautiously supported a neutral approach for strategic reasons, fearful of harming the country’s interests in Russia-controlled Syria.

A minority on the right, however, has gone as far as to express a measure of sympathy and identification with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s justifications for Russia asserting a historic claim to Ukrainian territory.

“People in Russia suit Putin’s rule. Kyiv is Russia’s birthplace. Kyiv for Putin is like Bethlehem and Hebron,” said Maj. Gen. (ret.) Gershon Hacohen, a senior research associate at the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, in a recent interview on Kan public television.

Hacohen questioned the assumption that Israel needed to stand with the “Free World” and be on the “right side of history.”

“Is the European Union on ‘the right side of history’ when it opposes me when it comes to Judea and Samaria [the West Bank], building for the Palestinians and pouring money into anti-Zionist NGOs?” he said. “I have to ask myself: what is the right side of history for me?”

While condemning the brutality of Putin’s invasion, some right-wing commentators – similar to their U.S. counterparts, most famously Fox News host Tucker Carlson – positively contrasted the Russian leader’s strength with what they see as the weakness of leaders in Western Europe and the United States, and their failure to offer a counterbalance to his aggression over the years.

Noam Fathi, a right-wing journalist and broadcaster, as well a fierce advocate of former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, tweeted that it was NATO and the West who were “standing on the ‘stupid side of history,’” since “it’s the NATO countries who repeatedly provoked Putin, blatantly violated agreements with him …

Israel occupies certain territories. Golon heights for one to keep a buffer. Seems like Putin is doing the same. Just saying.

Nobody explicitly wished the US dead, but they are siding with enemies of the US, despite how much the US has helped them.

Apparently, you’re ok with disloyalty when loyalty is expected.

I don’t care one way or another about that. The one I quoted, however, specifically did name the US.

We can abandon Israel and Europe to the Russian war machine and tell them that we have their back at the same level they have ours.

I’m ok with that.

Russia is 10 time zones wide. Israel is the size of Rhode Island.

The “Two State Solution” requires Israel to give up roughly 25% of its land.

Nice try.

“If it weren’t for the US, Israel might not exist at all.”

Typical self absorbed American attitide, if it weren’t for America nobody would be here. That shit is getting as old as libtards calling everybody who disagrees with them racists.

I have no problem with the US focusing on itself internally and letting the rest of the world focusing on themselves. Get the US out of Europe, South Korea, and Israel and we will see how much the world needs the US.

Hopefully it won’t, but I don’t have problem in finding out.

Try for what? Israel says Russia can’t occupy the Ukraine while they occupy the Golon Heights (the only high ground for miles) , while they hold that area. That would seem slightly hypocritical to me. They have their side. Putin pointed it out early on. PO

You’re comparing apples and oranges. Not everybody who disagrees is a racist, whereas Israel would indeed have likely ceased to exist on several occasions without US intervention.

Trump was on Israel’s side, he moved the embassy to Jerusalem.

Remember that Haaretz is an ultra far-left, anti-Israel, “Israeli” paper. They will leave no stone unturned to try and make Israel look bad to the world.

The Golan Heights was captured from Syria back in the 1967 war. It is not “occupied” but was conquered in wartime. Losing wars has consequences.

I do not give a shit what Putin declares.

Not sure why you want Israel to give up the high ground that oversees their tiny country so their enemies can set up easy rocket launching points, unless you’re a Pali supporter.

If that’s the case, this isn’t the right forum for you.

Jesus entered on the world during Rome’s first emperorer. And he will re enter it during Rome’s last emperor. The bible calls him the antichrist. He will be the humanist paradise’s substitute Christ. Rome built the roads that paved the way for Christianity to supplant. The new Rome is building new roads to supplant Christianity with the worship of man.

A minority on the right, ...

Strange title for the article given the above is what the author equates to "the Israelis."

This piece is just leftist propaganda.

That’s good to know. I’d hate to think that being a good nation, like the US< has been all but a waste of time.

Why do you think the deep state got rid of him. The deep state in the U.S in none other than the European Centralisation. Tendency The founders of the U.S constitution were well aware of this tendency and that is why they incorporated a series of checks and balances in the U.S constitution to inhibit the growth of the ECT. The ECT will never slumber. Always on the march to incorporate the U.S culturally and politically into the neo Roman empire.

I don’t, they’d be foolish to do so. In fact during the Clinton Administration they were being pressured to do that. Now coming out strong against Putin who considers this a defacto war with the West, they would be in line to give up their areas of expansion. I think they are in a quiet mode. 💩 stirrers are in full voice though. Por Nada
