Germany to 'fast-track' gas terminals as part of Qatar deal

Doha (AFP) – Germany has committed to "fast track" the construction of two liquefied natural gas terminals as part of a new long-term deal with Qatar as it looks to reduce dependence on Russian gas, the Gulf state said Sunday.

Economic Affairs Minister Robert Habeck secured the accord during talks in Doha with its emir and energy minister who have been pressing European nations to strike long-term deals to guarantee their supplies.

European states have been forced to turn to Qatar in recent months as they seek an LNG alternative to Russian gas in the wake of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

Qatar has insisted on long contracts because of the huge cost of investing in gas production. Already one of the world's top three LNG exporters, Qatar plans to increase production by 50 percent by 2027.

Berlin has come in for criticism over its opposition to an immediate embargo being imposed on Russian energy supplies as a means of choking off Moscow's foreign earnings.

Germany believes a boycott could cause major economic damage as well as huge rises in energy prices.

The United States of America has more Natural Gas than Saudi Arabia. And that is only the ‘known’ amounts of Natural Gas. Under President Trump we we shipping boatloads of LNG to Europe.

Above, I purposely stated ‘known’ in quotes. We have only drilled a few short miles into the Earth. There are untold amounts of oil, gas, and coal. They are not ‘fossil fuels.’. The more accurate term is hydrocarbons. There are oceans of hydrocarbons on the surface of the moons of Jupiter and Saturn. I sincerely doubt that those hydrocarbons are from fossils, from dinosaurs and savanna.

Biden / Obama and his minions cannot stand the freedom that cheap, reliable energy provides. The scams and hoaxes of Global Warming, Global Cooling, Climate Change, Climate Crisis are all aimed at less freedom, more control, less choice, more government.

so, how many years does it take to build a couple of “fast-tracked” LNG plants and ship loading ports that can continuously fill a line of super-mega LNG transports ships?

Lets see how fast world famous German science and engineering can build their new LNG import terminals!

As far as I know we have some LNG export terminals in Texas and a huge LNG import terminal outside of Boston. Their main imports were (are?) from Algeria. Situation today, I don’t know.
Also that there is political wrangling to keep all natural gas here in America and to export zero. So I don’t think we can help out Europe much on LNG. Meanwhile gasoline is stable to lower here in the USA as crude is off its peak from 2-3 weeks ago. Peak was $123/barrel with today’s price at $109. Friday it was $103

Soon to be a pile of useless paper. Your comments on energy are more ignorant than on military affairs.
