That is an interesting observation. I had thought the ships were there to threaten an amphibious landing so as to tie down Ukrainian troops all along the coast. It appears they’ve been supplying the Russian war effort, which is possibly how the Moskva got close enough to be targeted.

In my day, Damage Control was King. Modern warships should be able to have a trained crew and a ship design which makes it possible to keep fighting even after quite a bit of damage from enemy action. I hope the Russians didn’t make the same mistakes we’ve (USN) made in cheap, cost cutting marine architecture and then putting a bunch of girls on warships (ruins espirit de corps)
I know that’s a pretty old ship but still, it must have been upgraded i during overhauls over the course of 40 odd years
