I, when I was a liberal, too left the democrat party many years ago over one issue, abortion. From there I discovered other conservative values that I had and finally was able to proclaim that I was a conservative. So, if he left over one issue, I am sure he will discover other things he agrees with that will break through the stereotype of what he thought was a conservative.
I hope that is true, but we were burned before- after Newt Gingrich balanced the budget during the GOP wave, numerous democrats ran as republicans. That is when the term RINO was coined.
The RINO’s dragged the GOP away from the “Limbaugh Caucus” (what they called themselves in tribute to GOP conservatives finally having a voice in Media thanks to him)
