U.S. Wants to See Russia Weakened, Says Defense Secretary Austin
Wall Street Journal via MSN ^ | 25 April 2022 | William Mauldin, Thomas Grove

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Russia’s military capabilities should be degraded after he and Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and announced more U.S. military aid to the country.

“We want to see Russia weakened to the degree that it can’t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine,” Mr. Austin said Monday after the highest-level visit of U.S. officials to Kyiv since Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24. Mr. Blinken said: “Russia is failing, Ukraine is succeeding.”

In what could be a significant escalation of the conflict on Monday, large fires broke out at fuel-storage facilities in the Russian region of Bryansk, some 60 miles from the border with Ukraine, as well as at a nearby military fuel depot, Russian state media said. Russian missiles struck railroad targets in central Ukraine early Monday.

They don’t state it publicly while providing money, weapons, and intel.

Back in the day, all the wars were started/entered by Democrats, then it switched to Republicans, now we’re back to Democrats.

Now that the Democrats think they can win every election from here on out with mail-in ballots, they feel they have beaten the deplorables here and are now focusing on Russia.

We want to see Russia weakened to the degree that it can’t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine

So official US policy is to undermine and attack vital Russian national interests. Do we like flirting with a nuclear excahnge?

Yeah. I was thinking that was a pretty stupid thing to say. Make the effort to accomplish something like that...but don’t advertise it.

Pushing a despot like Putin into a corner and not expecting retaliation is stupid.

Russia will never be weak as long as Europe and much of Asia keep buying their energy from Russia.

Indeed it’s a direct result of Biden shutting down pipe lines and stalling drilling we were selling energy to them under Trump Biden has caused a world wide reaction that put all at risk.

Green energy plan my ass it’s a power play

If you want to terrify the entire nation of Russia, this is how to do it.

There will be more and bigger war.

During the Cold War, definitely. Not as much recently, only a bit. They searched long and hard with regard to Trump, but the only thing they found was a $100k Facebook ad purchase, and that wasn’t even pro-Trump, it was mixed - to stir things up. As to the ‘environmental movement’, they may have seeded it, but the vast majority of it is home-grown. For example the 20th Anniversary of Earth Day was April 20, 1990 - just after the Berlin Wall, and the country was SWAMPED with how the planet was about to end. It wasn’t the Soviets, they were broke and about to collapse...it was AMERICANS who pivoted that way and have never stopped.

China, on the other hand, has their fingers in literally EVERYTHING in this country. I’d be shocked if they don’t already have FBI-level files on every American at this point, for example.

What a good strategy. Bring the world to the brink of world war in order to weaken Russia. Brilliant!

The Democrats do not have to worry about the midterms if a few Russian nukes have hit US cities and the nation is operating under martial law.

"Green energy plan my a** it’s a power play"

Agreed. I bought solar panels and batteries last year and love them so much that I'm in the process of upgrading them and getting an EV. But that's not a solar vs. fossil fuels thing for me. It's a make-my-budget-as-I-head-into-retirement-depend-less-on-politicians-messing-up-energy-costs-and-supplies-because-I-supply-most-of-my-family's-energy-needs-myself kind of thing.

If I could drill and process my own natural gas, coal, and/or oil I would. They're much more efficient than solar or wind. But I can't do those -- I have to depend on federal and state regulated monopolies to get the goody out of fossil fuels. And the regulators are messing up our energy costs going that route.

But if I make myself about 90% energy independent then I worry about 10% as much as I used to about the Dims controlling us with their energy policies.

Austin is leading a dangerous proxy war. The fools who stole the election are killing us is more than one way.
Yep, Putin still has tactical nukes.

“They’ve been trying to weaken us forever.”

So have we, them. And we know we lost that race a long time ago. Liberals just don’t learn from their mistakes. And conservatives don’t learn to try to stop liberals from getting power and making them.
