Barr on SCOTUS Home Protests: ‘Federal Crime’ to Go to Judge’s Residence to Influence Decisions

Former Attorney General Bill Barr said Monday on FNC’s “Jesse Watters Primetime” that the protests outside the homes of Supreme Court justices after a draft opinion leaked that would overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling were a violation of both federal and state law.

Waters said, “You see these protesters at the homes of these justices, what goes through your mind?”

Barr said, “Well, that’s not a valid form of protest because it’s a violation of the law. There is time and place for protests, and the federal statute makes it clear if you go to the house of a judge, the residence of a judge to influence the judge in his decisions and demonstrate that that’s a federal crime.

Unfortunately we have federal criminals in charge of who gets prosecuted for federal crimes.

It’s also a Federal Crime to steal an election, but then I guess some Federal Crimes are more equal than others to Bagpipe Boy.

Of course it's against the law. It should be against the law for the rest of us plebes as well. The problem is no one will enforce the law.

Of course, you have to prove it was actually stolen in order to be a crime and your buddies and you have failed, miserably, in a court of law to prove that. Where’s the Kraken!

As society gets more brave skirting the law, and society sees there is no judgment nor see able consequences... Society sees there is nothing stopping them to do whatever they want.. Steal whatever they want.. Lie, when it’s easier than the truth...

Hey.. This is better. Easier.. than trying to be good people. Good is in the eye of the beholder.

The law is only enforced against conservatives. These were Democrat protesters, so it’s ok.

Is March for Life against the law too?

I wonder how the line is drawn between 1st amendment right to petition (which I assume is for the purpose of influencing), and a law making it a crime to parade for the purpose of influencing.

Whoever, with the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer, in the discharge of his duty, pickets or parades in or near a building housing a court of the United States, or in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge, juror, witness, or court officer, or with such intent uses any sound-truck or similar device or resorts to any other demonstration in or near any such building or residence, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

In the future will more Supremes will be really backing both the 1st and 2nd amendments and the Constitution after this B$, in actions or just nodding their heads and making new laws not protecting the Constitution?

Probably not!

Maybe the Supreme Court has outlived any usefulness and protection of our Constitution and a lot of Americans.

It has become another political arm of the left wing Deep State Haters of America.

It could/should just shut its doors and let the states make these decisions!

I’ve never heard that we picket and raise hell at private residences. There are laws on the books regarding private property and marauding mobs that are threatening private residents is against the law. Or perhaps you can cite some case law where it is legal? I’m waiting.

I was referring to the code cited, 18 USC 1507. I wonder how that line is drawn.

Private property is subject to disturbance of the peace sort of civil infraction. Making threats is a crime too.

Right. I'm sorry if I came off a bit strong but this mob scene is being allowed by the left when it is clearly against the law (again, at private residences). I didn't realize that 18 USC 1507 was what Barr cited. That doesn't even include private residences and is unconstitutional (imho). I think that was passed specifically to prevent prolife people from demonstrating.
