'Measure 110 has everything to do with it': Law enforcement says decriminalization has flooded Portland streets with drugs

In November 2020, Oregon voters approved Measure 110, essentially decriminalizing possession of small amounts of drugs — from heroin to cocaine to opioid pills. Instead of criminal penalties, the law calls for treatment centers to be set up all over the state, so addiction could be treated as a health care issue, not a law enforcement issue.

The problem, law enforcement says, is that has led to a huge increase in the amount of drugs on the streets — and now, an increase in crime. . . .

"It's everywhere. It's everybody we contact. I have a couple cases that are back-to-back cases we did this week, and in each case, it's fentanyl possession and stolen handguns. This is almost everything we do right now," Ferguson said.

We once had a gorgeous country we could be proud of. We deserve to lose it all.

How could a nation allow this to happen?

As a rough rule of thumb, mistakes made by conservatives are easy to fix. But mistakes made by liberals are almost impossible to fix.

Remember when a handful of conservative/libertarian types thought that drug legalization would solve the drug problem more effectively than the “war on drugs”? Where are those people now? Probably still agitating for their “solution” in the few places where drugs are still actively suppressed by law enforcement.

My friend had a brother who lived in Portland.

The brother recently passed away.

Squatters moved in.

40% of registered voters vote. It takes only 21% of registered voters (a "majority") to keep voting the same left agenda again and again and again.

So how could this happen? Voter apathy is a big part of it, in my mind. How deep in the gutter will we get to wake that bloc up?

I have argued with many such people in the past. I point out how China's legalization of drugs utterly destroyed that nation and killed perhaps 100million people before it was finally made illegal again.

They don't want to talk about what happened to China because that real world experiment proves the opposite of what they wish to believe.

As usual, libtards do every thing backwards intending too fail.

Did they build and fund the treatment centers first? Nope, they just decriminalized possession. Have they started to fund and build treatment centers? Still nope... and they probably never will.

Meanwhile, all their children with woke degrees will get government jobs administrating programs that are nothing more that shells to divert tax dollars to themselves.

A few reasons, but, probably, the main one is that the majority of our congresscritters are corrupt.
All of the demonrats and half of the GOP are owned by our enemies.

The root of Portland’s problems goes far beyond the legalization of drugs. In fact, I would say the legalization is a symptom, not a cause. The modern militant progressive mentality will simply not allow for the removal of people defecating on the streets downtown, so how are they going to have the will to enforce drug laws?

I would go as far as to say that in a conservative city, if there is such a thing, drug laws could be abolished and you still wouldn’t see the level of dystopia that exists in Portland.
