A Chinese chemical engineer was sentenced to 14 years in prison for stealing trade secrets on drink can coatings to establish a Chinese company backed by the Chinese government.

Xiaorong “Shannon” You, 59, was sentenced on Monday by a federal judge in Greeneville, Tennessee, on the charges of conspiracy to commit trade secret theft, conspiracy to commit economic espionage, possession of stolen trade secrets, economic espionage and wire fraud. In addition, she is ordered to pay a $200,000 fine and serve three years of supervised release.

“Stealing technology isn’t just a crime against a company,” Acting Assistant Director Bradley S. Benavides of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division said in a release. “It’s a crime against American workers whose jobs and livelihoods are impacted.” You stole valuable information related to bisphenol-A-free (BPA-free) coatings found inside beverage cans. BPA was used to help lessen flavor loss and prevent cans from corroding. Companies began developing BPA-free alternatives because of BPA’s potential health risks.

To the lawyers representing this “Amerikan Kapilist” in the eyes of his Chinese handlers... Just remember if they haven’t reformulated it the past 25 years the patient is up - I refer you Micky Mouse and Disney.

I would say that this type of espionages’ is what is driving China’s quest for knowledge. They are openly buying people. Look no further than the Ds/Rs in the Senate or Congress, or the President. China got missile guidance tech from Clinton. Hillary said at the time to avert war all nations had to have equal technology.

Have to and want to, of course are two different things. Easier to steal then to put in the R&D effort. I don’t think they are smarter or dumber, just have not yet built of the people infrastructure of experts in the different fields. But they also work their asses off. If you read scientific journals you see lots of info coming out now from Chinese universities, that will lead to innovation. I think socialism/communism eventually collapses as those bright people do not want to be yoked down, but don’t fool yourself into believing they are less intelligent.

It has nothing to do with being woke. Post doesn’t make any logical sense.

Please don’t include Bible verses and references to Jesus in your profile while insulting people made in God’s image.

Ok. Fair enough. However, I hold that it does make sense.

The stereotype is that people of Asian heritage have superior intelligence to people of (for example) Caucasian heritage.

Then he goes on to mention that the Chinese (a subset of the set of Asians) steal technology.

Makes logical sense to me.... although, I might note that the act of stealing technology is actually smarter than developing it yourself, so I might fault the OP on THAT basis.

My neighbor got 30 months in jail for similar theft of intellectual property for a Taiwanese company. His wife divorced him and kept the house.

Now, you are showing you don't think logically or are ignorant about Asians. You just admitted you are dealing in the world of "stereotypes." But, it is a false stereotype.

For example, Laotion, Thai, and Cambodians are Asians yet they are not nearly as successful as other Asian groups with regards to education. Therefore, his comment basically equating Chinese people with Asians is flawed.

This just shows that stereotyping is not a firm foundation to make a logical point. It also does not treat humans as unique individuals made in the image of God.
