Ed Arnold, former British Army Officer and Research Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute has more on the situation in Ukraine. He said the battle is "effectively over" in Kharkiv and that Ukraine has won the fight in the city.

The UK Ministry of Defence has said that Russia has "lost a third of their forces deployed in Ukraine" and is "unlikely to accelerate their rate of advance in the next 30 days."

Their latest statement came as Russia's offensive in Donbas "lost momentum" and has "fallen significantly behind schedule."

We are being invaded with the assistance of our own government.
What is happening in Ukraine is not as critical to US citizens like the invasion of the US is.

Wow, a quarter of their population. I can’t even imagine. No wonder they still hate nazis.

You are evading the question!

AGAIN: So if we stop all shipments to Ukraine, that will somehow alter the situation on our southern border - is that what you are implying?

To imply that we can solve only one problem, or the other, but not both simultaneously would be to commit the "False Dilemma" Fallacy.

The population of the city of Pittsburgh, every 2 weeks.
Where will they go?
How will they survive?
Of course, they will be put on welfare and registered to vote Demonrat.
They’re flooding the already overburdened healthcare system and obviously, they won’t pay.
Our already failing public schools will be completely destroyedd, along with the criminal justice system.
Not to mention drugs, human trafficking...
Cloward - Piven, here we come!
The planned destruction of America continues, on schedule.
China wins, without a shot being fired.

National security means securing THIS nation, not others.

The Soviet Union (together with the Warsaw Pact) was, for many decades (during the so-called "Cold War") the greatest threat to America's national security.

Russia is now a shadow of its former self - yet still poses a threat to world peace and to the U.S.

I whole-heartedly support the continued degradation and destruction of Russia's armed forces.

Don't you?

1) There is no pressure being put on Russia to throw in the towel and withdraw . Putin was (intentionally?) drawn into this conflict. Now the US and others are trying to block any face saving avenue for Putin de escalating and exiting and they are actively trying to keep Russia engaged in Ukraine mired down in a protracted, meat grinder type of a limited conflict. Biden could shut this thing down in short order with the right type of pressure and leadership. for 2) I have no idea what the desired outcome is from NATO. The Russian way of war is brutal and there is some satisfaction in seeing the bullies get their nose bloodied. If Russia chooses to escalate to the level it must in order to win, things are going to get really bad.

They need to re-think their goals and put more troops on the ground and seek more allies.

The time for that kind of Russian diplomacy was before his troops stepped off. Now it's way too late for that. He might just have to accept defeat with a fig-leaf to obscure it and come back for another bite in 10 years or so. It won't be Putin from what I'm reading about his health problems.

Having been jaded by Vietnam I searched the internet for “Ukraine drugs prostitution”. Try it. You will find out why certain western interests don’t mind you dying to secure Ukraine.

I watched part of a PBS interview with token fake conservative David Gerkin a couple nights ago. Gerkin was praising “the greatest generation” for making everything perfect and lambasting baby boomers for everything that leftists like Gerkin actually screwed up.

It occurred to me that, besides everything else gained in World War II, the most significant gains were the spoils of war. Gerkin was attacking baby boomers for not wasting our lives to bring him more free stuff. And Gerkin is p!ssed that people are not jumping into Ukraine to bring him more spoils.

Russia doesn’t even have 1/5 of their forces in Ukraine

Perhaps you’ve seen various accounts of the vast numbers of troops Russian has - well, they are old, maybe complied before the fall of the USSR and never updated.

Russian Ground Forces has 240,000 active troops, total, before the invasion. Naval Infantry has another 20,000. The VKF, as far as I know, does not have any infantry or mechanized vehicles. All the RGF Airborne troops, the elite, are mostly dead. There are a few Naval Infantry brigades operating in the south.

Beyond the 260,000 infantry, there is the Russian National Guard which has some 300,000 troops, but they are mostly tasked with maintaining internal order. Some of their best Spetsnaz Brigades where used, but are now mostly spent, having suffered huge losses.

Only full mobilization of former conscripts will gain more troops, and that is looking less and less likely. Should that happen, most will be killed by artillery (which is the main death bringer in this contest).

As far as the VFK goes - Russia uses them like a sort of flying artillery - CAS is not their thing. Also the bomber forces so feared is nowhere to be found. Almost all VKF activity take place within Russia; planes lob their bombs hopping they hit something. UA S-300s keep them at bay and various manpads keep low fliers in terror.

#111. Searching on line for "United States drugs prostitution" or "trafficking women United States" gets equally ugly results too.

Russia anticipated token resistance similar to what they saw in Crimea. Problem was that Crimea was Russian. So that was different. Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine. Of course, the Ukrianians were going to fight. VDK paratroopers paid the price. Russia did not use them well. And now they're gone. It'll take years to train them and that's not happening in this war.

The Izyum counter offensive will likely start in a few days.

As soon as the UA gets the additional 300,000 troops it needs which will happen right after the UAs has the fuel to transport them to the front, which will happen as soon as a major shipment of modern rifles, ammo and kit arrives to equip them. But soon, maybe in late fall or early next year or ... soon

#76. He did go missing for awhile, apparently he was abducted by the Ukrainian forces, but then reappeared unscathed

So he says. I have been tempted to write a thread debunking Lira for a while. Kiwifarms.net "is a website about Internet drama". Gonzalo Lira has a long running thread there.

From Gonzalo Lira / Coach Red Pill / expat229 - Scam Artist, Male Feminist Pretending to be Alt-Right, Possible Rapist?, Liar, Failed Economist, post #3,723, there is some interesting information about his arrest and edits to his Wikipedia page.

Too Long; Didn't Read version: Lira just unplugged from social media for a while, attempted to edit his Wikipedia entry under a new account name, got caught and had the new account banned, then a few days later started posting again on social media claim he was arrested by the SBU.

His thread on Kiwi Farms started Nov. 18, 2017, is now 187 pages, 3,739 posts long (as of a minutes ago), and cover his online scamming going back to 2013.

For ten years, he has invented and reinvented his online presence as a fake economist, website thief, fake dating and pick up guru, fake MGTOW, fake alt-right, fake anti-globalist, fake pro-Russia, and fake international political expert.

So, yeah, if the anti-Ukraine, pro-Russia crowd around here wants to use him as a trusted, go ahead and do it.

Just don't say I didn't warn you.

Ok thanks, I knew nothing of him other than watching a couple of his videos. He did come off as kind of a flake, but he was never my go to guy anyway.

#112. Do you mean this interview, Former presidential adviser David Gergen discusses leadership and the next generation, PBS news hour, March 13, 2022?

First, be nice, try following Core Rules of Netiquette, and provide a link so people know what you are referring and can give a informed response.

Second, Gergen was talking about his new book "Hearts Touched With Fire: How Great Leaders Are Made". The book and interviews he has given are about passing the torch from one generation to the next in the contemporary American context of what comes after the Baby Boomers. In an interview he gave with Raju Narsetti for Mckinsey publishing, he stated the idea for the book started five or eight years ago. He has not said one single word tying anything in his book too Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
