Corporate diversity policies sacrifice loyal employees on 'equity' altar

My multiple awards and sales put me in the top 1% of all American Express employees for eight consistent years. I loved the company and "bled the AmEx blue." I even considered getting a tattoo of the famous AmEx Centurion. Until the company turned on me for not putting the company’s DEI policies above American Express’s credit-worthy standards.

My journey into purgatory began with a request by a potential client for a large credit line. I responded to this inquiry by applying all the company’s standard credit checks. The client refused to comply, and in the process very rudely harassed me and my Black male colleague whom I assigned to directly service her. Still, I did not decline her request. Rather I sent it up the chain for further review.

Fatefully for me, the potential client was a Black woman who viewed my actions as emblematic of a narrative of racism against her. Thus, she complained to corporate that American Express might be exhibiting "systematic racism."

(snip)

After finally firing me, American Express destroyed my credit line when I refused to sign a Release of Claims document promising I would keep my mouth shut about this whole business. I refused my "payoff" (severance package tied to the Release of Claims being signed) to be quiet. As a result, on the very next day, American Express canceled all of my credit accounts. They even put me and every LLC associated with me on a credit "Match list," effectively a blacklist for all credit card processors.

Nothing new- my father was NYPD for 23 years. 17 years on the job, after being a highly decorated NYPD detective for 5 years, he took the sergeants test and was passed over for promotion by people who had half the experience he had (8 years to his 17) and got half the score on the exam (44 to his 92). Passed over simply because he was white and they weren’t- quota hirings.

He was part of a massive lawsuit in the 80’s on the situation, a lawsuit that went nowhere. SCOTUS finally ruled in favor of situations like this, the New Haven Firefighters case, around 2009, but he had already died.

Everything has been infected with this affirmative action bs-civil servants jobs such as police and firefighters in the larger cities in New York have been doing ‘number 8’ hiring for over 20 years. That means every eight hire on the list has to be a minority. There is nothing more frightening than knowing that your city’s police and firefighters are hired after scoring 2,000 out of 2,000 (with a 50% on the written test) just to fulfill a federal judge’s consent decree.

I learned about affirmative action when applying to one of top universities in NY in the 80s and thought nothing about checking off the race box. I had the grades, SAT scores and ranking to get in, but did not. But I knew a black female who got accepted with below average grades and a huge scholarship to boot. That was the day that I learned that life is not fair, and that the system was rigged to punish white people for being white.

It has gotten even worse. This garbage has to end.

We now have major corporations which dedicate their resources to turning this country into a repressive, fascist entity.

Company I work for has made it clear the new hires will be 60% minority or women.

The same thing happened to me with the post office. Took the civil exam and got a 98. I was passed over because the minorities got 10 extra points because of the color of their skin. Vets only got 5 points but if you were a black vet you got 15. There was no way I was going to get hired at at the rate. I was put on a list (at the bottom) and was told I would eventually get on offer. Never did.

The company is telling you that it's no longer viable. (It probably hasn't been for a while). They're openly refusing to seek out the best talent because they know they can't afford them.

A seasonal immigrant Mexican agricultural worker got a loan for a $650,000 house in Fresno around 2004.

Everyone was surprised when foreclosure 6 months later showed NOT a single payment had been made.

The NYPD had standards about new recruits that were hired at one point. After the federal consent decree is when 5’1 women who were not capable of detaining a 6’1 male perp, strung out on PCP, were walking the beat with their painted nails, long hair and gear that they clearly did not have a handle on. Now, the NYPD allows visible tattoos, sloppy uniforms and police who patrol the subways who I have seen playing on their cell phones with their backs turned to the crowd and no awareness of securing their sidearm. Standards have been lowered so much. Then there are the female firefighters who can fail all of the evolutions of the physical agility test and still get hired. Does anyone want a 5’1 110lb female who cannot wear the 65lbs of bunker gear needed to be the one to drag you out of a burning building?

Men and women are physically different. Fact. If a woman can do the same physical agility requirements as a man, then she deserves the job. Otherwise, she is a threat to the department and the public.

This is exactly what happened in Silicon Valley in 2001-02.
If you brought it up, you were fired.
If you refused to train your replacements, you were fired.
It only impacted Americans and your replacements were always Indians.
I originally thought it was just a cost saving goal but looking back, I wonder how much was really “diversity” using cost savings as justification.

x1000 for the FDNY

The courts forced them to change the physical training test because it was “unfair to women recruits.” So who would you rather have save you if you were in a fire?? A 110 pound woman who could not lift her own weight? Or a 220lb dude in good physical shape?

It’s not just loyalty they’re sacrificing, when you pick somebody because of the color of their skin or the their sexuality or whatever other abstraction, you have to pass over the best qualified people.

Nowhere is there mention of the one community that is clearly not being supported under the current regime – white family men like me.

Whites need specific political representation and advocacy groups.

It’s masonic pagan humanism. It is Christianity without Christ, Judaism without the Law, Islam without the Prophet. In this religion human reason equals religious belief. In this corrupt religion’s practice the Holy Bible stands equal with the Hindu scriptures, the Koran, and the Book of Mormon, etc. Kind of sounds like what Bergoglio is promoting, eh. Wouldn’t want to alienate anyone now would we. Repugnant!

********

That has been the normal for pretty much of history. People
choose their own to a large degree and congregate in the same
areas. In some cases rulers have been the dictators of where
people reside

Prior to the Biden Admin, it wouldn’t shock me a bit if the company was publicly traded.

Now it wouldn’t surprise me a bit no matter whether the company was publicly traded or privately held.

For my entire career post-military, “equity” has always been a consideration in hiring decisions (to include promotion). For the past 10 years, the “equity” factors have been explicitly a part of the performance evaluation / pay increase / bonus process.

A lot of people forget that.

The tragedy is that the Bush II Regime endorsed and perpetuated this. Clinton/Reno started it, but Bush II could’ve nipped it in the bud...but they LOVED the PR from showing how home ownership increased during his first term. And “conservatives” like Shammity lauded it, not thinking about how it would eventually collapse the market.

We now have major corporations which dedicate their resources to turning this country into a repressive, fascist entity.

I'm going to throw this one bone out for the corporations.

If you look at virtually any publicly traded corporation, about 60-80% of stock is held by institutional investors (Vanguard, Blackrock, State Street, Berkshire-Hathaway, etc, etc). While it is true that most of the money that they invest is done through index funds, they still hold the right to put the C-Suite in place. That's why so many companies have gone totally woke (even companies that you'd think would be conservative).

The shocking part is when you look at the ownership of those investment houses.

If you’re looking at moving, look at moving to SE Asia. You can live VERY handsomely for <$3,000 a month. You can live well on <$2,000 a month.

In my town (in Thailand), you can get a 3BR villa with your own smallish pool for about $85,000. $150,000 will get you a very nice 5BR with a pool large enough to do laps. We’re only about 1 mile from the beach FWIW.

One side benefit: it isn’t woke here...like it is in the States. Imagine the culture from the 80s and that’s approximately about what you’ll see here.
