A South Florida Jewish congregation has challenged a new state law that blocks abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, contending the measure violates privacy and religious-freedom rights.
The lawsuit, filed Friday in Leon County circuit court by Congregation LâDor Va-Dor, seeks to block the law from taking effect July 1. Abortion clinics also filed a lawsuit this month in Leon County challenging the constitutionality of the restriction.
Both cases include allegations that the law, signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in April, violates a privacy right in the Florida Constitution that has long played a pivotal role in abortion cases in the state. But the lawsuit filed Friday by the Boynton Beach congregation also contends that the law violates religious-freedom rights.
âFor Jews, all life is precious and thus the decision to bring new life into the world is not taken lightly or determined by state fiat,â the lawsuit said. âIn Jewish law, abortion is required if necessary to protect the health, mental or physical well-being of the woman, or for many other reasons not permitted under the act [the new law]. As such, the act prohibits Jewish women from practicing their faith free of government intrusion and thus violates their privacy rights and religious freedom.â

I can’t understand how jews can be so tolerant of abortion when they were almost exterminated from Europe during WWII. They oppose the death penalty for murderers, but are suing to murder the unborn.

He was referencing other gods the Jews had had a habit of worshipping every now and then. Many of them were about sexual deviancy and child sacrifice. When you think about the Jews living in Egypt and sometimes worshipping Egyptian gods, you probably first think of their chief god Ra (or Re). But the god the Jews had a habit of worshipping was the one they called "She" (I think pronounced "say" with a heavy pant sound). That god was about --- you guessed it --- sexual deviancy and child sacrifice.
It's a repeated them across many centuries and cultures. Different names for the false god, but same results. She. Baal. Moloch. Ashtaroth. Athena. Venus. Tialoc. Sexual freedom. Right to choose.

I type quotes around the terms "Christian" and "Jewish" because neither term can mean simultaneously diametrically opposed principles as regards "life," another term now needing quotations around it, as does "woman" in the current Politicization of EVERYTHING.
Once words mean two diametrically opposed definitions, then language itself fails.
