Mayor Eric Adams had no idea how rotten the Big Apple was at its core before taking office — telling The Post he was “shocked” to learn just “how bad this place is.”
During an exclusive interview conducted as Adams rode the subways overnight for more than three hours last week, the former NYPD transit cop said he was astounded by the botched “deployment of resources” that has New Yorkers on edge amid a nearly 40 percent surge in major crimes this year.
“Let me tell you something: When I started looking into this, I was shocked at how bad this place is,” he said of the city.
Adams — who campaigned on a promise to restore order to an increasingly lawless Gotham — said the scales fell from his eyes when he began reviewing internal city operations following his swearing in moments after midnight on New Year’s Day.

I had to do some work in Jamaica Center, Queens. I commuted up from Bucks County Pa. on NJ Transit, through Penn Station NYC, then on the E train to J.C. At J.C., there was a black gang selling access to the subway for $1. They would take the dollar, and use a key to open the cripple’s gate. Thousands of dollars a day. There were usually four or five MTA cops, and a couple NYPD cops watching, as well as the ticket agent in the booth. They looked pretty happy, I’m sure they were getting a nice cut. But hey! Good news! No one was jumping the turnstiles!
So everyone else knew except Eric...and he’s an ex-cop.

I agree it was bad before but it got five times worse when Adams came in. He’s a jerk.

Manhattan New York is a dump and a socialist mecca. The residents accept behavior and filth that others would never tolerate. Residents blind themselves to the shabbiness, the mentally ill, overcrowding, the minuscule apartments, insane prices, and lack of selection in stores.
The sidewalks were too narrow over a century ago and a trip through the subways is a journey through a sewer line. The streets are a pot-holed mess.
The rivers are polluted with human waste among other things. It's hot and muggy in the summers, really bringing out the smell of urine, garbage, and body odor. The stench of the Great Unwashed permeates everything. It's cold in the winters and rainy in the spring. You have to leave the city and go upstate in the fall to see the leaves change.
The locals look like something that the cat coughed up. Anyone half-decent looking is a tourist, a student, a working commuter, or a recent arrival. Those who stay too long adopt the look and attire of a style that ranges from "desperate-for-stand-out" to "I call it trending retro but it's really second-secondhand". Their look is that of resignation.

I love it when politicians are running for office, they have all the answers. Then they get in, and it is either someone else’s fault or the situation was worse than they thought.

Adams is an affirmative action hire to the NYPD. He does not speak well. All he does is hit the celebrity clubs and party. Another substance abuse mayor like DeBlasio.
Perhaps if Adams actually spoke with his police commissioner he would know what is going on. Crime is at an all time high since before Giuliani took office. Adams is useless.
