Russian energy company Rosneft announced the discovery of a massive oil resource in the Pechora Sea with an estimated 82 million tons of oil.
A drilling campaign in the Medynsko-Varandeysky area led to the discovery of the field. “During the tests, a free flow of oil was obtained with a maximum flow rate of 220 cubic meters a day,” the company’s statement read on Wednesday, noting that the “oil is light, low-sulfur, low viscosity.”

About 1200 barrels a day which is quite respectable. About 120,000 dollars a day. Note, this is the discovery well and as they define the field there may be better wells in the field. Put a platform in and drill multiple wells from it. The real question is how big is the field.

82 million tons is enough oil to supply the USA for about 2 months. A big discovery if youre in the oil businees, but on a grand scale its not very important.

A barrel of oil is about 300 lbs. So, 82 million tons, conservatively using American tons of 2000 lbs per ton, equals about 547 million barrels.
Maybe a couple of decimal places were dropped.
At the same time there is a fertilizer shortage for USA farmers.
