Please try not to be as offended as you are informed by this post; be sure I mean no harm by it:
I always disliked the idea of having children. For years, almost every time I saw the gynecologist I would say, “Can’t I just be sterilized? I KNOW I don’t want any kids. I don’t like kids and I would be a terrible mom. I KNOW this. Please, can’t we just talk about it?” and I would get a refusal. They would say “If you change your mind, you’ll blame me.” (Since when do they start caring if people change their minds or BLAME THEM or not?)
(Note: My stories about roman catholic nurses I worked with trying to talk me into taking birth control pills are recounted elsewhere on this board.)
Anyway, maybe gynecologists are more compliant with patient requests these days.
Democrats support the Trial Lawyers who prey on the medical profession because it has deep pockets and lots of insurance.
That is why these doctors are reluctant to perform sterilizations on 20-something women.
I had a friend with inherited chronic kidney disease that would be exacerbated by pregnancy as well as her desire to not pass the gene on, who had trouble finding a gyno to sterilize her as well.
Seemed ridiculous to me that they would still be so reluctant in such a situation.
Why not just limit your sexual partners to neutered males?
How old are you? If you’re less than 75, I can guarantee you that one day you will come to rue your decision to sterilize yourself.
