A new wave of scientists argues that mainstream evolutionary theory needs an urgent overhaul. Their opponents have dismissed them as misguided careerists – and the conflict may determine the future of biology

> Any other theory that was off by that much would be thrown into the historical archive of silly beliefs people used to have.
Not when we can presuppose “dark evolution” and go fishing for more research grants!
“... to disbelieve in Christianity as a divine revelation”
My wife is a Buddhist. She is a very good person giving her time and money to help the less fortunate. She has never intentionally done anything to hurt anyone.
Do you believe she will spend eternity in Hell?
“(I think Darwin was probably incorrect about a lot of things; but I have never had a problem reconciling the idea of evolutionary processes with belief in a Creator God.)”
Neither did Darwin.
You’re using Darwin’s words. And no, the Bible does not say anything like that; Hebrews is very clear that those who go to the lake of fire will have been the kind that actually fight against God once He fully reveals Himself.
Buddhism teaches of several hells (or Narakas) itself, don’t forget. Are Christians going to any of those, in that eschatology?
that’s how lawyers are born
“You’re using Darwin’s words. And no, the Bible does not say anything like that; “
No. I am referencing my wife and you ducked the question.
I did not duck the question. Your wife (I do not know why you are dragging her into this) is not going to the lake of fire. There are four words in the Bible that get translated as “hell”, those being Hebrew “she’ol”, and Greek “haides”, “gehenna” (aka the lake of fire, per Revelation) and “tartaros”; none of them mean a place of eternal suffering.
Ok. You are funny, though.
Hey tex,
Jesus did say that he was the way, the truth and the life, and that no one comes to the Father but by him.
Regards
“Buddhism teaches of several hells (or Narakas) itself, don’t forget. Are Christians going to any of those, in that eschatology?”
Depends on their karma.
“none of them mean a place of eternal suffering.”
Different sects of Christians preach different philosophies on the fate of sinners and/or those that do not accept Jesus.
Which is correct?
Only the Bible is correct. If the sects in question teach anything that deviates from what the Bible actually says, they’re in error.
“They are basing their whole discipline upon a man who openly said his unscientific ramblings were based on his “gradually c(oming) to disbelieve in Christianity as a divine revelation”,”
Please provide a source.
“Only the Bible is correct. If the sects in question teach anything that deviates from what the Bible actually says, they’re in error.”
You ducked the question. Is there then no Christian religion that properly follows the Bible as to the after-life?
“Your wife ... is not going to the lake of fire.
How did she get into the book of life?
That’s not ducking the question; that’s answering it as straightly as possible.
It’s you who is ducking now, by changing the question merely because you didn’t like the answer.
And of course, you asked the same question Darwin posited, when he in his complete ignorance of the faith he claimed to once believe in said that the Bible condemned his close relatives and friends to everlasting punishment merely because they did not believe, which twists Jesus’ words in John 3:18-19 (the word translated “condemnation” is from Greek “krisis”, which means to judge rather than to deliver a verdict).
“Source is Darwin himself,”
Long article. Please cite the specific passage that supports your claim.
“That’s not ducking the question; that’s answering it as straightly as possible.”
Yes it is. I asked which Christian sect was correct and you answered only the Bible is correct.
If as you state that that is the correct answer I must then conclude that you know of no Christan sect that faithfully follows the Bible in this regard.
“It’s you who is ducking now, by changing the question merely because you didn’t like the answer.”
You didn’t answer the question.
