Valeriy Fedorovych allegedly shot down Russian Su-34 jet flying over Chernihiv
He collected debris from the exploded jet and keeps it in his garage
Pensioner was awarded a medal by the State Border Service of Ukraine
A Ukrainian pensioner shot down a Russian Su-34 jet with a rifle, sending it spiralling to the ground, a government agency has said.
Valeriy Fedorovych opened fire when the enemy aircraft flew overhead in Chernhiv, according to the State Border Service of Ukraine.
It is claimed he picked off the jet, which costs an estimated £74million, and footage circulating at the time showed it careening back down to earth, although he was not seen in the video.

Old man hero propaganda. Make it a little girl who took it down with a slingshot.
He is holding a shotgun? Maybe he shot down a quail and mistook it for a Russian Warplane.
Absolutely true. It does happen, though.
And the plane WAS low and slow (I’ve seen much better videos; Russians are amazingly vulnerable due to lack of good smart bombs.)
AND there was no obvious SAM or AAA.
So it’s possible.
Do I think it is more likely that something just broke due to it being Russian junk? And the old man happened to take a lot shot about the same time? Yes.
Sounds like idiocy to me.
Belief is becoming hard, is that not a shotgun? I guess it was loaded with jet shot.
perhaps if two swallows carried the coconut?
Nice ‘rifle’ ... is that a 12 gauge ‘rifle’?
