Me too. The group most capable and most likely to serve have been deemed deplorable. This is why Rome fell to the barbarian hord. She wasn’t worth saving.
If the draft comes back, a lot of standards will be relaxed. As far as weight, you will, I expect, see a quasi military health and fitness camp some conscripts go to, until they lose enough weight to enter IET. No leave, and time there does not count towards your two year (or whatever) obligation.
Obesity and Criminality are the price you pay for “affirmative action” and “diversity”. With all the 400 and 500 pounders “walking” up from the tip of South America carrying three kids, it is only going to get worse.

I had a coworker who would show before and after pics from Marine basic training. He went from fat blob to a wall of muscle, but he said that it nearly killed him.
IIRC only a full time Navy is authorized by our constitution. We, you and me are the army. Gun and home owners.
Granted the modern world requires a full time presence for DEFENSE, but I really question why we need battalions of men in foreign countries.

Same thing for me, too. My father spent 1939-1946 in the UAS and US Army Air Corps and then with the USAF until 1963. I did 1968-1968 in the AF. There is no way in cowboy hell I’d ever tell anyone I care about to join up and serve Biden’s Country right now.
