50 Reasons to Re-Think Climate Policy
Watts Up With That? ^ | 22 Sep 2022 | Guest Blogger

When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir? – JM Keynes

Climate Policy is in crisis.

This month, the G20 Climate Conference in Bali collapsed in confusion – preceded by the flops of both COP26 in Glasgow and COP25 in Madrid. Three decades of climate talks (52 weeks of Conferencing) have failed dismally – and the global objective of stabilizing atmospheric greenhouse gas emissions is no nearer being attained than it was at the Rio Earth Summit in 1992.

The initial hopes engendered by the tepid Paris Agreement of 2015 (Paris15) have been dashed. No material forward progress has been made during the past seven years. China has now broken off its climate policy co-operation with the USA. And Europe’s fickleness has been glaringly exposed by an energy price shock.

Human-related global CO2 emissions will probably reach all-time record levels next year. No developed country anywhere is even on track to meet its nationally-determined contribution (NDC) to the goals of Paris15. Voters’ appetite for more climate adventurism is probably at its lowest level in decades.

It’s time for a re-think.

A. THERE IS NO CLIMATE EMERGENCY

The marketing term “climate emergency” has been exposed as an outright deception.......

Seven simple questions to pose to the gangreen folks:

1. Define the “correct” temperature range for the planet.

2. Define the “correct” humidity range for the planet.

3. Define the “correct” mean sea level for the planet.

4. Define the “correct” amount of precipitation for the planet.

5. Define the “correct” makeup of the atmosphere.

6. Define the “correct” amount of sea ice at the N/S poles.

7. Define/explain past glaciation and subsequent warming without any input from humans.

Tell them you’ll wait.

“Watts Up With That” normally gets into the complex details of climate articles, etc...

This one is a fantastic, simple summary

They have already thought of a solution.   Goad President Putin into Total Global Thermonuclear Destruction to kill 7.5 billion people down to a manageable population and the resulting Nuclear Winter will end the fears of Global Warming until the next Epoch.

I have been following Watts up With that since probably the late 90’s or 2000. There have been a huge amount of interesting ideas over the decades, and they are sourced, discussed, and lead to other interesting things. Definitely not a favorite of snarky moronial gender studies climate experts

The worst thing about the current Climate Change policy is that it is focused on the wrong thing.

Current policy is focused on Carbon Dioxide (Plants love it!). Which is very small part of the atmosphere And Princeton Physicist William Happer says that when it comes to increasing Carbon Dioxide it's not going to have much more effect. "You can't paint a red barn more red."

Climate change should be focused on harmful pollutants not Carbon Dioxide. PM2/PM2.5 particles that have been linked to Diabetes, would be a nice thing to focus on.

This list of pollutants should probably be our focus. Major air pollutants, their impact and sources

That list does include carbon monoxide but not CO2.

And I'm fine with cleaning up non-CO2 coal emmissions. But the answer should be improved filtration on coal fueled power plants and not killing that important source of energy.

World-climate-leader Germany is re-opening coal plants; considering extension of its nuclear plants; and subsidizing the use of all energy;

This is the one that blows me away! Where is Greta???
How dare they??

Time to dump the climate policy.
Why have a policy regarding something you have no control over?
Get up in the morning, look out the window, there’s your climate for the day.

The number one reason is that climate activists and politicans are a bunch of scam artists. Real life swamp weasels.

I am trying to get my arms around this, but all I could come up with is:

Once it was proven via the superfund cleanup that the majority of superfund sites were in blue states, the politicians needed a new villain so they created the global warming/cooling/climate change narrative. Billions were spent, sites were cleaned up as best as possible, everyone took their cut and that was that.

Want to fix climate change? Clean up pollution around the world and plant trees. It will be cheaper, have more of an impact and change peoples lives for the better.

climate change is the excuse
